Soap Commander is a big thing

Well it is - but I was especially surprised about the size of that tub!

Here it is next to a tub of Cella:

- Soap Commander: 6oz,
- Cella: 5.4oz

Now, I didn't order this soap (I got the soap instead of the balm from LuxuryBarber as they sent the wrong item so I can't try it out as it's going back in return to the vendor) It smells really, really good though!

 

Is Cella sold by mass rather than volume?

 

I really don't know how to answer that...all I can see is that Soap Commander says 6oz and Cella 5.4. Maybe it has a lead bottom.

 

I wonder if it is a volumetric (fluid ounce) measure on the commander. Most of the European soaps I see are sold in grams, which is a mass measurement...that could account for the "difference"?

 

It does a bit more info:
Soap Commander: 6oz (170g), and
Cella: (150g)

but nothing else apart from that

Probably a lot of air in that tub, less density.

 

Different density is my guess as well.

 

Short of my brilliant idea about a lead bottom I'd say that is the next logical conclusion

 

I prefer my soap unleaded.

 

Just send Josh more money and keep the soap...problem solved.

How would you describe the scent?

 

Hmm...maaaybe...I do got a 25% discount I might be able to apply...

The full name of the soap is "Endurance - classic spice" as this soap is meant to resemble the original Old Spice scent.
From their own page it is being described as;
"Endurance contains top notes that are nutmeg, lemon, orange, star anise and aldehydes; middle notes are carnation, jasmine, geranium, cinnamon, heliotrope and pimento; base notes are ambergris, benzoin, cedar, vanilla, tonka bean and musk."

Now, I actually can't remember what the original Old Spice smells like...it is however a very appealing scent to me...maybe a bit faint but that may well be because I'm simply smelling the hardened top surface of the soap. I wouldn't call it a 'spicy' scent. It's more mellow and with some citrus coming through.

The balm I ordered - and now have on its way to me - is also Endurance and if the balm smells like the soap I think I'll be very happy with it.

 

I like Soap Commander. They leave head room in the jar in case you want to sling your brush around in there, but there still is a lot for your money with Soap Commander. The one I got was "Love", which smells of roses. It's a nice rose smell. The matching aftershave balm is nice and also has that same scent that lasts longer than a splash. I usually use this on the weekends when I can take my time and enjoy my shave a bit more.
I would like to try some of their other scents now.

 

I have the Soap Commander Confidence. The scent out of the jar was very subdued. After using several times the scent has opened up but not overpowering at all. I can pick up a nice Honey/Musk scent. Overall I really like the soap.

 

I believe AOS does the same with their cream.

 

That made me sad, in my heart.
