Tabac shaving soap?

^^ I've had the Tabac about a week, now, and am awaiting the Omega 10049 that Mr. Shaverman recommended; for now I am using an old 10029. I hadn't thought about an after shave after using this wonderful smelling Tabac soap, but as I have enjoyed the smell of Old Spice since I was a little kid, I would consider using it if the original scent was still available, but since I was forced into buying that plastic bottle stuff a few years back, I'd say that I'll prefer to allow the soap to linger.

    What about using Tabac aftershave?

I'm really torn about ordering tabac, I know that everyone says the soap is great, and many hate the scent. Really not too sure if I should grab a tub. I've been thinking about ordering a sample from the tsd shop.

Yeah, there seem to be many who love it, and then others who talk about how the smell overwhelms them for hours, or how they've learned to like it. I guess you can't have too many soaps, maybe I should buy a tub.

It's a lot cheaper to buy the refill rather than the ceramic tub but it won't look as cool. Give and take you know. I'm broke so I did the refill.

I did the refill as well, wanted to make sure I liked it first. When I reorder it will be with the tub. I don't see my den being without it.... same with Li Occitane Cade.

Looks like it's not a big difference on Amazon right now, 19 vs 24. Does this seem normal or should I shop around a bit?

You can find the refill puck cheaper, like $15 or so.

So what is the consensus on the smell? If it is truly a cigarette smell I will pass.

I've never heard of it called a cigarette smell. I smoked for 20 years and now can't stand the smell of cigarettes, and I don't associate Tabac with that smell at all.

From the Maurer & Wirtz website:

The successful fragrance has, of course, remained unchanged. Tabac Original is a sophisticated composition fragranced with peppery-spicy notes and elegantly rounded off by exotic woods, musk, ambergris and a floral complex. An unmistakable fragrance with a discreet presence.

    The head note:
Pepper, petit grain, lemon, bergamot and neroli

    The heart note:
Lavender, chamomile, geranium and oakwood absolu

    The base note:
Clove, sandalwood, vetiver, musk and ambergris

Hairy, if you are waiting for a consensus, you are going to be waiting a long, long time.
If you would like to know about the smell first hand, PM me your mailing address.
I've got three brand new refill pucks in sealed packages. I'll slice a sample wedge from one of them and send it to you. Then you will know for sure. (one way or the other....) :)

Thanks for this, it has really helped. I've no way of smelling Tabac other than to order it online, and I, like many I'm sure, feared the smell of cigarettes as well. Knowing the notes, I'm really looking forward to it now, I'll be buying some soon.

T.S.E Chris Bailey recently used Tabac on his You Tube channel. He said he hated the scent at first, but it grows on you and now he really likes it.... Couldn't agree more.

    No cigarette at all.

Love the smell, hate the potency. Strongness, whatever the word is I'm looking for.

For me Tabac has very little scent. Certainly not offensive. It lathers wonderfully

Our mileage may vary, but in the end we end up in the same location - Camp Great Shave :)

What about these pucks? Are they sized to replace the one that comes in the jar I just bought?

Does that include shipping charge? Many of the Amazon prices include shipping.

Yes they are. The jar has some ridges on the sides at the bottom designed to keep the puck in place
