Tyr's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger Soap: RazoRock One-X Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3) Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock One-X AS splash Cologne: Burberry Brit by Burberry Back to what I know works for me in the FaTip today, with a fresh Bolzano blade. The Simpsons 56 whipped up more than enough lather to spare for 3 passes with the One-X, which gave every bit of the glide and cushion I expected. Paired with the new blade, and the shave was so smooth and effortless that I decided to take a 3rd pass. Unfortunately, as often happens for me with the 3rd pass and a new blade, this produced a couple of minor weepers under my chin and on my throat. Otherwise, BBS results without any irritation - I didn't even feel the weepers open up.

Tuesday: Prep: Shower, Noxzema Razor: 40s SS Blade: Lord Platinum Brush: WD 24mm Black Badger Soap: Arko AS: Dickersons WH Lots of new stuff today, Yesterday my whipped dog, pure black badger brush came in. I have to say this thing is a wonderful value, and Larry is a pleasure to work with. I went through the normal brush break in last night, and now it pretty much just smells like arko. I really can't get over the quality of this brush for $22 shipped. I also got my Arko puck in yesterday, yep everyone was right, lathers very easily, but smells like ivory bar soap. I'm certainly going to be picking up the sticks next time. I was less impressed with the lord platinum blades, I may give them another go tomorrow, I did 1 wtg pass and it seemed like there was some irritation so I stopped. Still working on my technique and looking for a blade to try the 30 day rule.
Bravo! Good plan...when you hit the right combo...it will be a Eureka moment. You will just know it! Have fun searching.
SOTD 16 December 2014 Utopia 3pc loaded with Gillette Silver Blue Arko Shave Stick Omega 48 Pro (Boar Bristle) Alum with cold water for technique feedback TSD Preshave Balm - Iced SubZero AV Musk This was the soap-blade-razor combo I used for my first 30 day Rule. I got inspired by seeing a few newer guys post of late about blade samplers and looking for that combo....and there was Arko on "The Haul" today. In case you haven't heard...I love Arko! I remembered the fun and excitement of my first month and decided to revisit...I was not disappointed. Great skin feel after the shave again...the TSD Balm provides great moisture and skincare, and prepared my face for a cold damp day in Denver after a sweet 2 pass Arko-scented DFS. Arko makes me happy. I enjoyed the TSD Preshave from the recent PIF, so I did it again today. AV Musk (from same PIF) is new to me. It has what I would call that "old school barber" vibe going, and I am liking it as the day wears on. Thanks again @rmcintyre84 for making it possible to try all these products! Happy Tuesday!

Shave of the Day Auto Stropping It Prep: Shea Butter Black African Facial Soap, Sandalwood Patchouli PSO Razor: Valet AutoStrop VB1 Blade: Valet carbon steel Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Lather: Whoos the Man - It's Elementary Shave (setting): 2 passes; WTG, XTG + Cleanup Post: Stetson a/s, Stetson cologne To honor my friend I shaved with the razor he gave me. I found one of the blades that still had a good sharp edge and stropped it 20 times with an official AutoStrop strop. It gave an OK shave, the thing about old carbon steel blades is they lose their edge so quick. Halfway through the first pass the blade wasn't sharp anymore. Instead of switching to a modified GEM blade, I decided to finish the first pass and then finished off the shave with my Single Ring and a Feather. Post was the Stetson double whammy and it smells good man. G'evening gents.
