I've only tried 3 different creams but it's easily my favorite so far. The YouTube vids on it do it more justice than my words would.

    Wednesday:
hot shower w/Arbor Street Soap Co Lilac bar soap
    Taconic unscented PSO
    Gillette Slim (9/5) 2+ passes
    Ladas Super Stainless (2)
    Semogue Owners Club badger
    Maggard Lilac soap
    Humphrey's Lilac WH
    Lilac Vegetal AS Lotion

Today's shave with the Ladas blade in the Slim was nothing like yesterday's shave using the same blade in my Schick Krona. Rather harsh so I dialed back the Slim after the first pass (which I never do). Ended up with a few weepers and got a little razor burn all while leaving a bit of stubble.
Always interesting to note how different some blades perform in various razors.

    SOTD Wednesday 12/17

After a series of bad, bad shaves (my face was killing me!) with my black handle SS and my short handle black beauty I decided to take a plunge into the unknown. I've had a razor handle that came with a box of other razors for some time, but no head. So, I order a Maggard head and put them together. This handle is VERY heavy. Just realized it's solid, except for the end for the threads! It even outweighs my DE89 handle! It originally had a dull, bluish tint to it. Since it looked bad I used a brass brush and it shined up a bit. Talked with Chris at RazorPlate who thinks it may have been chrome "back in the day" that had tarnished and I may have polished through to the nickel underneath. Whatever it is, it looks OK to me. Anyway, back to the shave.
    • Prep: Hot Shower
    • Razor: Maggard "Frankenrazor" :shocked003:
    • Blade: Astra SP
    • Soap: Proraso Green
    • Brush: Semogue 1520
    • AS: Old Spice Classic
To be honest, I was amazed how nice the Maggard head shaved. This was, by far, the best shave I've had this month. Thank God...I was thinking I had forgotten how to shave!
