Haha, I had the same thing happening this morning. I couldn't figure out what was happening as that was a new sound to me

 

The NorCal storm is officially in NorOr! Okay, I just made up NorOr, but PDX is getting slammed by wind. So far it's still dry, but we're easily sustaining 40mph winds with gusts going to 65+. I walked the 4 blocks to the gym from my apartment tonight after work, it was 61 and a little breezy. Walking home it was like the old silent movies with the guy trying to walk against the wind! Heard from a buddy I used to work with tonight and the front windows of my old office blew out. Watching the news tonight and a building by where I work now had windows blown out. Pretty sure this is the windacolypse.

Not to worry, we all have water wings. Seriously, this storm isn't anything that hasn't happened a million times before, at least in Northern California. For some reason, the media is making it sound like a cloud-based version of the 2011 tsunami.

 

Freezing rain all day long. You could not scrape the ice. It was too thick. Had to let the truck warm up and defrost

 

Disappointing...GFS models were predicting 30" on the low end from this last storm and we were hoping for 36" on the summit, but it slowed down on it's approach and the Tahoe basin barely got a dusting, with the peaks to the west of the Sierra crest like Sugar Bowl & Kirkwood getting the lion's share at 24" and 17" respectively.

28ºF/-2ºC at about 17:30 with clearing skies and cold air moving in behind the storm, 14ºF/-10ºC overnight. There's a chance of another low moving through next week, but we'll wait an' see, as ever...
