I think I may give it a go for January, with my straight. Good way to get technique down and keep soap static. I'll be in with my Morley straight and let's see.... What soap... TSD Lanolin Temptation. Stetson AS... I can do it this time!
Never did do a 30-day stretch like that so not sure how I would had benefitted from it I'll be cheering on from the side lines as I switch up my razors 2-3 times/week experimenting with various aftershaves....soap and brushes... Muahaha
Good idea!. Sounds great, I'm in. The razor isn't actually new to me at all, but it's a Gillette New..... so I got that going for me. Along with using the New for the whole month, the only handle I will use is one from a Muhle that I modified, and I'll stick to Astra blades only. To start, my soap will be RazoRock Mouget de France. But, I should finish that off within the first week. After that, I will exclusively be using MdC Fougere.
I'm in. Always said I would do this.... except for chasing that durn white rabbit down various holes.... Should I use the GEM clog pruf, or the Shick I1? Of course, I have three DE razors that are lanquishing in the back of my shaving drawer. HELP! Of course, I get really good shaves from the Shick G almost a no brainer... so maybe I will use the MMCP. Body Shop Maca Root and Body Shop brush will also be used. And this will give me time to get the 1914 for March.
...would not have planned this any other way. Please consider guidelines below. ...how about you change everything, everyday, no matter what? No using same razor head and/or blade two days in a row period. If you like a setup...too bad, you can't use it tomorrow. Get all of the worst-imagined combos done and over with for the year is the alternate viewpoint, developing new faves at the same time.
Thanks! I am cautiously optimistic about my condition. I find out more next week when I see the doctors. Since this infection has been coming and going, I have scuttled all long term planned activities until we know it is "cured." That is why I will not be participating this time in the 30 day group effort because I might have to stop abruptly like last time. I hope to be able to participate again soon.
I've got a package under the Christmas tree with some new stuff... So yes, I'm in! I will post the weapons of choice at a later time.
Made my decision. Going to use the 1918 Old. Freshly cleaned and ready to go. Staying with Proraso Green, using an Omega Pro 48, and Astra SP's unless my Voskhod's arrive by the 1st. They are somewhere between here and Russia.
I know it's been a struggle. I pray this gets resolved quickly so you may resume long term fun-planning!
If you really wish to become proficient using a straight, I highly recommend sticking with it for the 30-day (or longer) period. Practice, practice, practice….. I won't be participating in this 30-day program as I've new razors to sharpen & test almost weekly, it seems. Good luck to the participants, though, as Im certain you'll learn a little something about both the razor and your technique!
