Received the Personna injector razor that I picked up for $9. Didn't think it was going to arrive until after the holidays so I was happy to see the box today - and even happier when I looked inside. I often end up buying razors that I have to spend time on cleaning up a bit...but this razor arrived in near mint condition. It looks completely unused. About the Personna Injector: NOTE: I had some difficulty finding consistent information about this razor so any additions/corrections to the below would be greatly appreciated. The razor has a top made of brushed, stainless steel and underneath it a plastic handle. It's easy to see why it has earned the nick name "The Star Trek razor" It uses regular injector blades a la Schick, etc and there are people that argue that the 'stiff' injector blades moves the shaving experience closer to that of using a straight razor. Made by America Safety Razor Co. (ASR) in the 60's The razor is rumored to be "medium aggressive" and capable of delivering an extremely close shave. Photos: After giving it a cleaning anyway, here it is: Can't wait to try it out!
Nice! I have one that looks just like it good shaver, not my favorite, definitely scores a 10 on style and looks. Enjoy! Great price!
It looks ready to go and if it is in great shape are you going to enjoy the shave. That was ASR's best injector razor in my opinion and still looks futuristic even by today's standards.
I went to Waits Compendium and it states 1970 but Personna released the Personna 74* blades in 1970 and those blades were sold with this razor. With the dating of the P74's I would believe that this razor was being made and / or sold until around 1975/6 when Personna stopped making both DE and Injector P74's. I even checked the company history that Personna made avaiable some years ago. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/signs-of-a-bygone-era-burma-shave.25435/page-5#post-651654 I hope this helps. Edit. This razor might have ended production sooner based on the release of another Personna razor which was the Floating Injector that may have entered service in the mid 1970's but since it was matched to the P74's it would have met the same cut off date of 1975/6. By then the cartridges were too ensconced in the market and no new design DE or Injector razors would be appearing.
@Darkbulb you also have a great avatar! What's the story with the vintage leather bag and the camera? Sorry for the thread hijack. "We now return you to your regularly scheduled program."
It's a beautiful razor, I have one just like it. Mine is very very mild and I have a hard time getting a good shave with it. Also have one of the floating head model Personna razors. Very cool concept but really mild also.
I´ve had the luck and ordered one too moments ago. Looks really beautiful. The pics of my Injector looks like it´s in a very good condition. Can someone tell me something about the shaves? Smooth and gentle or is it more on the aggressive side? Seems to be a mild one. Are there any blades that you guys would recommend me? Pictures will follow after i received it. Greetings Thorsten
Great, can't wait to see photos I found it to be a very mild - yet rather efficient razor. I use standard Schick injector blades in it. I don't think I could get a 100% smooth, clean shave with it (it requires some touch-up passes as well) - but for when I'm in the mood for something rather mild and forgiving this has proven to be a great razor for me. It has ended up being my SOTD razor quite a few times since I got it
Really nice pictures. I will show pictures when i received it. Curious as hell... Mild sounds good to me because i prefer very mild razors. Now i want to have it only more and more.
