Not quite as frigid as most other Menthol Monday Shaves but still frigid enough. The Godrej Menthol Mist is one of my favourite creams, because it smells nice, lathers so easily and richly. The skincare is also pretty good. The Anherb conditioner gives lots of extra cooling, together with perfect soothing and protection against irritation or dryness. The Rubby Dubby Doo needs no description - it's awesome! ;) :D

    Nivea Men's Face Wash

    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Gillette NEW
    Feather Hi-Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The TOBS Grapefruit Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Gillette NEW and Feather Hi-Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    SOTD - MONDAY, 12/29/14
(I posted to the earlier form....oops)

Razor: Late '40's Gold Fat Handle Tech (My very first find 'in the wild')
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: WD Silvertip
    Soap: Proraso Green
    AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

Only my second try with this razor. It's very mild as I recall, so I have to remember not to 'overwork' my trouble spots.

    Menthol Monday...
    "Let's get ready to Rumble!"

A little Proraso Green to wake up the face, Then watch the cattie's bubbles mile high menthol explode with a cloud of lather. I'm going to use my one-two punch combo of the R41 followed by the Ikon 102 slant. To finish this fresh shave, I'm going with the always soothing Nivea sensitive balm.

Looking forward to start off the week right...you gents do the same.

    Monday!
    • Music: Roger Glover & friends: The Butterfly Ball and The Grasshopper's Feast
    • Prep: hot shower, hot washing cloth
    • Brush: TGN a-grade silvertip badger
    • Soap: Cella
    • Razor: Sledgehammer (pass 1 & 2), birth year and quarter Gillette Slim @4 & 6
    • Blade: Personna red #1 & Supermax super stainless #1 (sledgehammer), Derby # 2 (Slim)
    • Shave: 4-pass + touch-up
    • Post: cold water rinse, Floyd AS

    :(

The Sledgehammer is not for me, I fear. :angry017:

1st pass with new Personna Red: tug, scrape 'n' burn along throat & chin. 2nd pass with new Supermax: more of the same. Both brands have always served me very well. As did the brands of blades I used the last few days, but: not in the Sledgehammer. Tug, scrape 'n' burn. Different angles: no dice. Different soaps: no dice.

3rd pass with Slim @4 & Derby: no sweat. 4th pass & touch-up @6: no sweat. Ended up smoother than the last few days.

    Finish with Floyd. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :love029:

I think the head geometry of the Sledgehammer is just not right for me. I'll lay the it on the side for now. In a few months I'll try it again. If it's again tuggin', scrapin' and burnin', you may find it in the 'classifieds' section. :sad024:

But there's lotsa other nice razors, to explore yet! :happy093:

    Have a great day, ya'll! :happy005:

    Soap - CO Bigelow
    Brush - Turkish #6
Razor - L3 Superspeed Flair tip

Overall a very good shave. One small weeper due to trying to buff a trouble spot. The only spot noticeable when alum block applied.

Soap Commander Courage today. 30 seconds: load & go with the oscar11 brush. Great lather and scent. I loaded a new Personna Med Prep in the NEW SC. Excellent, smooth, close, nick free shave. I finished with Country Club Southern Oud.

Another nice shave. I am glad I took advantage of the weak Ruble right now and ordered 200 of them to supplement my current stock. It is also nice to see a couple people using Institut Karite products today. It is good stuff that doesn't get much chatter.

    Schick G1 razor
    Personna 74 blade (day 1)
    Colgate Cup Soap
    Plisson/L'Occitane synthetic brush
    English Leather Balm
    English Leather Cologne

Respect the blade!! My previous use of a "74" blade went ok but the razor used was very mild and masked the blade potential. Used in the G1, I was BBS in 2 passes and not sure I needed the second pass. Holy Crap that blade is sharp! Also used English Leather for the 1st time in decades. Just as nice as I remember.

I mixed in some Stirling Glacial obsidian with my french soap mix, using my gem damaskeene and a CVS blade. This was a wonderful 3 pass BBS shave.
