    Wild Cherry Synthetic
    Schick Eversharp I2
    Personna Injector
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva

The Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Wild Cherry Synthetic Brush (first shave). The brush was very soft and had lots of backbone. Two passes with my Schick I2 and Personna Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
  3. SOTD: 1/1/15 :bounce017:

Razor: Edwin Jager DE89 (first razor I purchased when I started)
Blade: Voskod (1st time for me)
    Brush: Semogue 1520
    Soap: Stirling Black Ice
    AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

No time for a shower today so my beard wasn't sufficiently softened. Used a Voskod blade for the first time after hearing others sing it's praises. An "OK" shave, but not my usual result. The blade didn't seem as smooth as the Astra SP's I'm used to, but one time without a softened beard is not a good comparison, so onward to tomorrow.
Still love all the coldness of the Black Ice followed up by the Barbasol. It's a cold that lasts for quite a while after the shave! :Animatedfrozensmily:

  7. FRIDAY
    Evening Shave for Tomorrow

My one & only shave with this T. Hessenbruch & Co. razor, as it is destined for mailing to my cousin in Oregon tomorrow.
He's never used a straight razor before, but he's anxious for try. He convinced me to put together a decent vintage blade with some custom zebra wood scales. It turned out to be a very good shaver—and comfortable to hold. The scales are a touch fatter than standard (my cousin has larger hands than me & I like the beefier scales.). The 'rounded' square tip is also more forgiving for a beginner.
I wish I had taken more opportunities to shave with this razor as I really like the feel. I do hope it serves my cousin David well in his new journey into SR shaving.

    Have a blessed Friday, everyone!

  10. Shave of the Day

    On Chasing the Baby

Prep: Shea Moisture Black African soap, hot towel
    Razor: Morley 5/8
    Brush: New Forest 2204 badger
Lather: Whoos the Man - Commander
Shave: 3 passes; WTG, XTG, ATG
    Post: Stetson Cooling Moisture

So today is the first shave of my 30 day challenge officially... And it was a good one.

I needed a fantastic shave after the debacle last time out. So I grabbed the cutthroat and stropped it up, mixed some great smelling vanilla and oak moss scented soap, and went to work.

It all went well, I'm getting faster at the grips and angles while shaving. I felt I had to re-strop before the 3rd pass just to get the best edge possible. Not sure if that was really the case but I can't argue with results.

Tonight I chased the baby, and caught it. In most areas anyways, there are a couple spots I couldn't get. Probably wasn't an awfully intelligent thing to do while learning to shave with a straight razor but it worked out.

One shave down, 29 days to go!

  19. Excellent Shave
I went for the trusted Maggard's London Barbershop combo today, and I was rewarded with a smooth comfortable shave. I'm feeling more and more that my Aristocrat is my favorite razor. It's more efficient than my SC101 and more forgiving than my New or 39c. It also reminds me of my Dad, since he used one like this for decades.
