DE89 - for my brothers B-day present. He told me he was thinking about getting a DE razor. Gillette Rubie - Why not, it is practically a modern day Tech and I have a spare handle laying around so no ugly plastic handle.
eBay. You actually like it? I thought I was one of the few people in the world who would buy something like that - and since it just had my bid of $10 on it I assumed I was correct I'm rather excited to see how it cleans up and pour some Pinaud into it! If you just type in "Pinaud bottle" on eBay there's always 30+ vintage bottles it seems like
Heck yeah. Ive been thinking of finding vintage glass bottles for all my AS that come in fugly plastic containers.
eBay is for once your friend Search "Pinaud bottle" or "Vintage cologne bottle" and you'll find heaps for $10 a bottle I'm actually looking for one or two more to do the same thing as you - getting rid of the fugly plastic bottles
Got my blade sampler in from tryablade... Now, just got to get through this 30 day rule so I can try em out... Gonna be tough with all those new blades to pick through.
Just now tonight bought a 'mini whale' of mine - an Eterna (AEterna) razor made in Sweden. Been looking for one for a long time so really happy I found one - for $13 It's either an A800, A894 orR 620 model - I can't really tell. These razors were made around 1946 and as you can tell from the design of the head it's in a way rather reminiscent of the Barbasol Floating head design in that the blade is suspended between the head plates making it, supposedly, a rather aggressive razor. At 84mm and 75gr it's a pretty substantial razor. Can't wait for it to get here
In addition to the Duke, I'm waiting on 200 Rapira Swedish blades, a tube of L'Occitane Cade balm, and three cologne samples from Surrender to Chance (Guerlain Vetiver, Chanel Egoiste, and Diptyque Tam Dao). And an Opinel pocket knife.
I think you'll love the Opinel as long as the expectations are in along the lines of using it for lighter tasks like opening packages, slicing fruit, etc. It's a very sharp (and beautiful) knife and I've carried and used mine almost every day since I got mine 8-9 months ago.
Yup that's exactly the kind of use I'll put it to. And it was your thread that made me aware of them. I'd been looking for something along those lines for a while.
