Assuming you drink it at all (there are certain insane, non-coffee drinking folk walking around society unmonitored, rumor has it), how do you make yours? We use a '50s G.E. Atomic-type perc - borrowed pic attached - but I've had my eye on an all-glass Pyrex stovetop job at a local shop.[/quot
I am thinking how I can respond to this question and not have readers think, "This guy is nuts?" Shaving would never be referred to as weird...right? Well shaving is not the only one.
Oh well, I am nuts about good coffee and I will begin by telling you that there is an underground of folks called "Home Barista's." They are perhaps more fanatical about their coffee, source of coffee, freshness and the home barista process which often includes thousands of dollars of expensive espresso equipment. I am guilty but included in the fanatic group are those that roast their own green coffee beans. I am guilty of this as well. It often takes years to develop the skills to properly roast coffee beans but the rewards are great in my opinion. Fresh coffee beans, unless vacuum packed, have a shelf life of around 10 days to two weeks past roast date. So when you open a bag of pressurized coffee beans at your local store it starts to degas and may stay fresh tasting for a week to ten day. It may have been roasted months before you bought it. There are no Keurigs, Mr Coffee, Krups, Black or Decker or Corning coffee makers in our home or most likely in any home baristas kitchens. However you may find a Technivorm. My morning coffee drink is large and I sip on it for an hour or more. It always contains 3 x 30 gram shots of freshly roasted espresso coffee and about 4-5 oz of hot steamed 2% milk. The coffee that I use may be from Ethiopia, Kenya, Sumatra, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala or Brazil. It may be a blend of several of these coffees. There is not a better way for me to start my day than to know that the only part of this coffee that I haven't touched is the growing part. Another joy is giving freshly roasted coffee to friends and family. After I have this marvelous day I take my shower and continue with shaving with the specialized shaving equipment that I learned about in this forum.
Life is good!
Thanks for listening!
