A much nicer shave this morning after the rough one yesterday. It is still well below freezing here, so I decided to add an ASB to help.

    Only 22 more days.

    SOTD: Speick it up

    Speick cream
    Plisson synthetic brush
    Mongoose with Dr Bomber handle
    Feather Artist Club Professional blade
    Speick splash
    Speick balm

I am on my second bottle of the Speick splash, but just got the balm. It smells very similar, but not exactly the same. I prefer the splash scent. The balm isn't runny, but it absorbs very quickly. Face feel is very nice, but it isn't my favorite balm in this price range. The Pre de Provence balms are better, in my opinion.

The stars of the Speick product line are still the shaving cream and the splash (which they, for some reason, call a lotion). I also jjst purchased the shave stick but haven't used it yet. Overall, this was a very nice, invigorating shave.

    Cold and snowy
10° and four inches of snow to shovel before work led me to reach for warmer products today. I tried WSP Tobacco for the first time and I like it. It performs just as well as their barbershop scent, and features a subtle (to me) green and cigar type scent. It doesn't linger so I don't smell like I smoked a stogie on the way to work. I paired it with Krampert's Bay Rum and Tabac EdC. It's a warm masculine combination, and one I'll likely repeat. Der Vorschlaghammer was smooth and easy again with Astra SP. My face feels great!

I turned down my slim one notch this morning because the Feather blade seemed to behave differently than the Voskhods, which is what I usually choose. The was an excellent shave today, with 4 passes so close that it makes a baby's bottom seem rough.

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Kamphe Bros. Star Razor, "The Hornet" straight razor
Blade: GEM PTFE coated SE (3)
    Brush: Col. Conk Pure Badger
Soap: Love Your Skin Soaps - Awapuhi
After: Home made ASB, Grey Flannel after shave balm
    Cologne: Grey Flannel

Baby it's getting cold outside! I did not get a chance to shave yesterday, so today was a treat. I tried using a badger with the Awapuhi. The lather was still a little airy but the bubbles were smaller. The lather did stay consistent and was slick. The Star and "The Hornet" (just off of the hones) did a great job. The Grey Flannel put on the finishing touch and will keep me smelling great all day. All in all a 2 pass Darn Fine Shave +.

    Have a blessed day!

Razor Reveal Week - DAY 3

My SE razor lot consists of 3 gold and 3 silver, so this is gold razor #2...the GEM MMOC. I have been enjoying my SE shaves recently, but this bad boy was a little rough. The razor felt much more aggressive, or requires a different angle for getting those sweet smooth passes. We will see if this one stays, but it didn't make a good first impression.

The huge badger brush may have been a bad choice to lather test the sample of B&M Black Label Lavender (Thanks Chuck), because it holds too much water. The lather came out a little thinner than I'm used to, but still plenty slick, and the post shave feeling was very nice. The scent is everything I was hoping for, a very nice Lavender with good scent strength. I'm sure I will be picking up a B&M Black label soap very soon, just need to narrow down which scent.

So overall, it was a little rough I must admit. Razor was ready to destroy anything in it's path, I used too much water on a soap that doesn't need that much water, but I managed to walk away without any bloodshed, so until tomorrow.

    Enjoy your Friday Gents!
