Both the Mongoose and Cobra Razors were designed as a method to use these blades in a format that would be easier to use than a straight. The prices vary depending on the exact blade but an avg price would be $20 for a pack of 20. I only been using mine since the first of the month so I do not have a wealth of experience on how long they last for me. I did change out my Kai Mild blade after 7 shaves. I have read that the avg for the Feather Blades is around 10 shaves. I have saw one report of in excess of 30 shaves on a Feather Blade. Based on my experience, it should cost me no more than a $1 a week in blades if I used just the Mongoose. Not as cost effective as a DE but a lot cheaper than a cart.

    Smooth Saturday
I used my iKon SC101 for the first time in a while and it worked great. It's also be a bit since I used Petrichor and it easily generated yogurty lather with the help of the lather monster. Top it off with Krampert's Bay Rum and I'm ready to go.

    Prep: Proraso White
    Soap: B&M Petrichor
    Brush: HIS XL
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101

    hot shower w/Pears bar soap
    Maggard Grapefruit PSO
    Schick Adjustable (7) 2+ passes
    Schick (2)
    VDH Premium boar
TOBS Grapefruit cream in a warm bowl
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Royall Spyce AS lotion

Love the TOBS Grapefruit. Great performance and a terrific scent made for morning. Wasn't sure about mixing the Royall Spyce in but the soap scent had faded and the Spyce is one of my recent acquisitions so I've been anxious to use it.
Second shave with my new Schick. Cranked it up a couple notches from Thursday's shave and ended up with a couple of weepers and I got right to the edge of having some razor burn. Very close with just the slightest hint of irritation. My normal technique with a Schick includes using a small amount of pressure since the razors are very lightweight. After this morning's shave I'm considering turning it up to "9", backing off the pressure completely as though I were using a heavy razor and see what happens.

    Saturday 1/10/15 Head Shave

I decided to pick up the shovel head again today. My first experience with it wasn't very good. So rough and tuggy that I didn't even finish the first pass. Not the same story this time. Good shave but I still find the short handle combined with the angle on the head to be really awkward.
