1. Random question...has anyone tried making a matching soap for the veg?
  2. Tryphon used to make some soaps that were very close to Pinaud Clubman scent(s) but they are long gone now.
    It's a great idea though.

I'd love one of these in Veg though....

But, here is a recipe for a Lilac Veg soap from another board.

Time to make: About 30 mins.
    Lather: Fantastic.
    Scent: Even better.

    ==================================================================
    Ingredients
    - 5 ounces of Lilac Vegetal,
    - 4 ounces of Shea Butter unscented,
    - 4 ounces of Goats Milk unscented melt and pour glycerin soap,
    - 1/2 teaspoon of Bentonite Clay
    - 1 Tablespoon of Glycerin
    - 3 tablespoons of Castor Oil
    - 2 ounces of LV right out of the bottle
    - Yellow and Blue soap dye (from the same hobby shop).

    Instructions:
Heat 5 ounces of Lilac Vegetal in a microwave to boil off the alcohol and water without scorching the "essence" like you might on a stove top.
Wind up with about 3 tablespoons of dark green soup.

Melt the Shea Butter and Goats Milk unscented melt and pour glycerin soap.
    Add the LV soup.

    Add:
    1/2 teaspoon of Bentonite Clay
    1 Tablespoon of Glycerin
    3 tablespoons of Castor Oil
2 ounces of LV right out of the bottle
Yellow and Blue soap dye (from the same hobby shop) - which makes it...green.

Pour it all into molds and let it cool.

  11. Was just thinking about Hoppe's #9 the other day. Great scent!
  12. Ok, I love a lot of scents, but here in MS the hedges (Bridal Spirea) are in full bloom. I absolutely love this floral scent, and it could very well be in my top 3 floral scents, if not my top floral scent. Ive heard people say that Bridal Spirea causes allergy inflammation. I dont know if that is true in general or not. I have asthma and have had nothing but great experiences with this scent. I rode my bicycle 26 miles last Saturday and enjoyed smelling the Bridal Spirea along the trail. This hedge flower also grows abundantly in and around my yard.

Question/request to any of the artisan soap makers that read this: can you make a shave soap or cream with this scent (Bridal Spirea), or am I left having to take in this scent in my yard and on bike trails??

  18. I, too, was thinking of Clubman when I saw the baby powder choice.
  19. Spirea essence is extremely fragile (and a light scent). It's not really used in many fragrances because of this. I tried to make a Spirea extract from the plants in my yard several years ago for our soaps, I did not work out :(
  20. Thank you so much for your reply! I did as much research on google and made inquiries with various essential oil companies. It seems the spirea is a no go. I can and will enjoy this scent annually in my yard and in the country area where I live.

Thanks again for your reply. I really appreciate you doing so!
