Placed an order yesterday for Maggard Razor Alum block and a tub of Proraso White - I think the Green is bit too drying for me.

 

Oh Man...LMAO...that is hilarious. Go big or go home I see. Soap on sale are almost impossible to resist....so I don't blame you. Did you suggest any scents that you wanted? Which of Ian's soaps did you buy?

 

Oh, I've got some interesting things coming.

From Stirling, a puck of Coniferous (an old favorite), a puck of Lemongrass & Cajeput, and a bottle of Port Au Prince aftershave splash.

Also, a tub of Drunken Goat from Mickey Lee Soapworks and a tub of Violetas from Jabonman.

 

The Lemongrass & Cajeput is the best smelling Stirling soap I've ever tried.

 

Yes, it was a combination of your recommendation and it being on sale that persuaded me to try it.

If I don't like it, I'll send it your way.

 

Pretty sure you'll enjoy it. Do post your thoughts on it when you get it

Heard great things about it and I like that this one is alcohol free.

Still waiting on the Russian knockoff of the Slim Adjustable. Ebay sez it was shipped from Russia on the 5th.

 

If it's coming from Russia it'll be 15-20 days. Make sure you post pictures, I've seen them on eBay.

Honestly, I have yet to find a 'bad' one.
Sure, some are obviously in better condition than others, but once cleaned up & honed, all the Wostys I've come across have been really good shavers.
I've about eight of them at various stages in the production queue...

 

I don't know if I will ever shave with a straight razor but I am sure I will add a few vintage razors to my collection at some point. I really love the look of the old SRs

 

I happened to come across and land (ebay!) another vintage T. Hessenbruch & Co (1873-1906) 5/8" straight razor; similar (albeit not as large a blade and flatter spine) to the one I rescaled for my cousin.
I really enjoyed the feel of THAT razor, so I hope this one is just like it when cleaned & honed.
