I'm a certified beer judge - this pic was taken while judging a competition. Shaving is my #2 hobby, if you can call it that. Beer & homebrewing is #1 for me.
Nothing more than the equivalence of my first DE shave. Very little experience and no technique.....i would have done just as well with an axe. I imagine I'll do just as poorly when I try my first straight.
Since becoming a member here, I've taken quite a number of pictures. I didn't know much about re-sizing a picture, or editing either, but I ran into a basic photo editing tool (Microsoft paint) one day and started dabbling. "Bristle Man" is just a photo of my favorite vintage Gillette Super Speed with some whiskers and a bushy mop added. This was the first photo I messed with using Paint. I'm certainly no artist, but I keep him around to remind me that an old dog can learn a new trick once in a while.
You should wander over to the Custom Title thread and see if your new B&B title will transfer. It would go well with your avatar.
My current avatar is just a dude from a vintage double-edge blade wrapper. It looks cool and is traditional wetshaving oriented, so there you have it. Besides, I quickly got tired of the shaving brush I was previously using for an avatar.
My current one is the dragon from Chris Caballero's skate board. I used to be really into skate boarding and Caballero was awesome. Not sure why I thought of it the last time I changed my avatar. Hoping the dragon imparts wisdom I guess ...
I had to re-read that several times as I kept seeing it as 'that be a pollo' (I'm obviously spending too much time reading Spanish)
Boy, Kevin, you really laid an egg with that one. But, at least it wasn't a total cluck up. (oops, wrong thread. )
Recent change out to this avatar. Someone PM'd me and asked who the man with the pipe was. He's actually from an old 'Lifebuoy' shaving cream ad; updated with color, violet shades and a soul patch. My sons say the man has a resemblance to me—with the exception of the pipe and heavily-applied Wildroot.
Ben Hur, actually. I have seen a number of Apollo and Ben Hur razor blade wrappers that differ only in the name. Both brands must have been owned by the same company at some point (or maybe always?).
