First time using an injector today. It was very mild...I mean very mild. Two passes gave me a passable shave but now, a few hours later, I can feel a lot of stubble under my chin I don't normally have with a DE/SE/Straight razor shave.

Apart from that it was a rather pleasant shave. I'd say it would be near impossible to cut yourself.

    Razor: Personna "Star Trek" razor
    Blade: Schick

3 pass DFS today. Seems like it is either touch up or do a third pass, which is fine. I am starting to think my Cade soap is an eternal puck. Has not changed at all. I can still read the stamp!

hot shower w/Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve scented body wash
    Homemade PSO
    Gillette Knack 2+ passes
    Gillette Silver Blue (4)
    Mystery boar
Tcheon Fung Sing Tabacco Verde Intenso soap in a warm mug
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve AS

I'm calling my brush the "Mystery" boar because it has no markings on it. I got it together with a shave mug at an antique store and I'm glad I did. It's turned out to be a dandy little tool.

SoTD for Thursday, January 15 or Single Edge mania day 2

    Pre- lavender eucalyptus pso
Soap- Bearded Jack cherry vanilla tobacco
Brush- Ever Ready with new synthetic knot
Razor- Micromatic with bakelite bullet tip
    Blade- PAL carbon blue
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- Brut
    Lotion- Kiehl's
    Cologne- TSD Brut type

Today, with piles of quality SE blades finally in hand, marks my second day of single edge mania. SE razors have gradually worked their way to the top of my preferences, so I thought it would be time to celebrate them. Yesterday was all about chubby bakelite handles, but my pictures didn't read well, so I will have to retake them and retroactively post them. But back to today. I love the Micromatic family of razors. This one is an interesting version due to its unusual bakelite tip. Other than that feature, it is a standard, sans eye, bullet tip MM. Therefore, a solid, reasonably mild shaver. I am on the fence regarding the blue PALs. Although they produce an excellent shave, they are a scooch tuggy. Just tuggy enough to be a deal breaker. I will give it a second shave before I form a solid opinion, but at this point, not looking good.
The brush was freshly knotted last night, and today was it's maiden voyage. Man, I love these synthetic knots. I had to open the hole up on this brush a few mm to get it to fit, but it came out great. I have to get some enamel paint for the lettering before I can say it's finished, but shaving with it is a pleasure, so I am counting it in the win column.
Finally, Brut. I love it. The gigantic bottle in the picture was an antique store score a couple weeks ago. It is comically large, and was sadly empty when I bought it. Still worth every penny.

    Pre: Hot shower
    Music: Mississippi Delta Blues mix
    Lather: Cella
    Brush: Omega 13522
Razor: '46 - '50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic
Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm, Tabac aftershave

Mixed it up with the Cella sample today. Pretty good lather, pretty good shave. Think I need to try something sharper in the Tech. Do like the Cella I think though.

    Pre- Corn Huskers
    Soap - RR XXX
    Brush - Turkish #6
    Razor - Merkur 34C
    Blade - Big Ben
    AS - Florida Water
Interesting shave today. More firsts today primarily due to a bulk order of Ladas on the way, plus my bulk of Astra SP's already in the drawer, I am using up some of my sample blades. 1. Big Ben blade, interesting, not smooth but not rough either. Not real close but almost a DFS. Kinda confused nothing stands out as great or bad. Florida Water, very interesting. Scent is pleasant, not overpowering, citrus/powdery and something else i can't quite describe.. Not normally a fan of citrus, but when I applied it, I would call refreshing with a cooling effect but not cold like menthol, i.e. Barbasol Brisk or Skin Bracer type feel. So overall a good shave with confusing components that all seem to work but didn't think they would.

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog original face wash

Soap/cream- Martin de Candre fougere scent

Brush- Whipped dog 24 mm silvertip

    Razor- Gillette Slim adjustable(5)

    Blade- Astra superior platinum

Post- Cold water rinse, Rosenserien sftershave tonic and mentholated Nivea sensitive aftershave balm

A nice shave this evening. 2 passes and touch up.

Second use on my WD silvertip and MdC, they go great together. Still gotta find the right balance for that perfect long lasting lather. But I'm getting nice lather, it's VERY EASY to lather.

This brush is very very nice! My first silvertip and I already love it after two uses.

I wanted to try my new Clubman Pinaud Classic today but I shaved a bit late and going to sleep soon. I'll try it tomorrow =D

    SOTD for January 15, 2015

This was the 14th day of my 30-day adventure to improve my shaving skills using the Mongoose. Preshave consisted of a face wash using Stirling Sheep Soap. I used my Kent BK4 brush and face lathered using MWF and a few drops of glycerin. (I exhausted my supply of Mike's Natural Soap.)

This was the fourth shave on the Feather Pro blade on a two-pass plus touch-up shave. I had another great shave and finished with Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel and Nivea Men's Sensitive Skin AS balm.

I'm finding that this set-up yields a very consistent and enjoyable shave. It is a wonderful way to start the day, and I really look forward to it! I hope you all had a fine Thursday!

Here's a great set-up for a menthol maniac like myself to enjoy. Thanks to my dear friend Ryan, I have this wonderful MITA soap which smells so nice, tropical, and old-school with some of the richest lather I ever experienced. The menthol power is admittedly less intense than what you'd get from a Glacial soap, but it's still plenty noticeable and cold. This soap also soothes and moisturizes sensitive skin very well. Following the Gold Bond moisturizer, a couple of good slaps of the Floid Classic aftershave will make my face feel terrific. It's not easy to dislike a shave like this one! ;) :D
