I had to forego a straight razor shave in the interest of time yesterday. I learned that after 3 weeks of shaving with a straight razor, shaving with DE razors is like a cake walk. Hard to believe I ever thought they were daunting!
This is very true. Considering the amount of prep, time and attention required in SR shaving, DE shaving is a relative cakewalk.
I've actually DE shaved with my eyes closed on my neck. Its kind of relaxing and heightens your sense of hearing and touch. Lol
When you can do this same action while using a straight razor, you'll know you've reached a whole new level of competency…
I've never done my face like that as I keep a circle beard, but that's pretty much how I shave my head at 4:30 am most mornings. Our bathroom is open to the master bedroom, so I turn on only the shower or closet light next to the bathroom.
Not sure if it's fully learned yet or not, but I think Williams might dry out my skin pretty badly. Used it the last couple of mornings along with a touch of Israeli Eucalyptus cream and I seem to get that itchy dry skin feeling after lathering up. I'll have to go back to the Sharp Dressed Man for a few days and then decide.
I was reminded this morning that it is not a good idea to rush a three-pass shave. It was a pretty good shave, but I had some irritation. I should have stopped at two passes. I know better!
That just when I think I have this figured out, I realize I don't... Tried a personna Super in my Fatboy and got four of the closest smoothest shaves yet, all with a different soap each time. Changed the blade for a new one and two so so shaves with some razor burn each time and average results. Maybe this is whats going to keep me interested......
I was not overly impressed after the nick four weepers and and irritation. They're still better than SIs ,imo. I will give them another shot when I get my Fatboy back. That being said are they worth the price.
