I learned that Barrister and Mann "Fireside" is the most intoxicating scent ever given to a shaving soap!
I learnt that a little bit of menthol crystals is great, however more well let's say the rabbit hole widens...
I might to try a 2nd day of growth. Since starting de shaving three weeks ago, I haven't let a day go by where I didn't enjoy a shave. I think tomorrow will become a "seventh day."
I've been shaving recently with my newly acquired Gillette New (LC) razor. I've been getting great shaves but it's the most aggressive I have (even when paired with a Derby blade). I've never really liked shave oil as I found it caused razors with a bar to drag somewhat. Anyway, tried the oil (Shave Secret) again this morning on 2-day growth with the Gillette New & Proraso and all I can say is, Wow! Worked beautifully and gave me one of the best 3-pass shaves I've ever had. BBS!!!!!! I'm thinking the open comb encounters less resistance with the oil due to the design. So I learned that for me, a more aggressive open comb razor, paired with shave oil and a good cream works great! As always, YMMV..................
That I had forgotten how good of a shave I get from a NEW and a Red. I might just end up getting that SC head that @gorgo2 was so gracious to send me , replated.
That the EverReady 1924 shovel head is a lot more comfortable to use with a longer handle. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sos-january-12-2015-january-18-2015.42533/page-22#post-777144
I learnt that persona red are nice but the feather is still the champ. I also learnt I need a longer handle for my slant
realized I am bad at shaving the opposite side of my face. meaning I am right handed and all of my irritation happens on the left side. Glad I finally noticed the trend so I can work on my technique.
I have learned that the Mongoose with Kai Mild blades is not going to give me the 2 pass shave I was looking for in this razor. After the 30 day January challenge, I will be trying out other blades in a hope to achieve the goal of a consistently great 2 pass shave.
This is common. Right handed people tend to lose the angle when they go across the body. (Vice versa for lefties!) Gentlemen, from my last shave... I didn't learn much. Just had a good shave. Welcome to WDWL! Another thread you should really check out is Shave of the Day or SOTD, it's a great place to see what goes on around here with DE razors.
• The resulting slick & fragrant lather one gets from working diligently with Mitchell's Wool Fat, is well-worth the extra effort involved.
