Sometimes it's best to take one variable out to see if it helps your shave. Then you can figure out what actually works and what just gets in the way. At least that's what happened to me.

    Sunday

I am setting up a new computer and can't access MOffice until tomorrow. I figured after 8 years, it was about time!

Prep: Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap
    Soap: Country Club-London Skies
    Razor: Slim
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
    Brush: Elite Razor Silvertip
    Aftershave: Country Club Frozen Vetiver

I tried the CC London Skies again today with a different brush, the ER Silvertip, and a tad damper.
After loading for 30 seconds, it produced enough great lather for 3+ passes. Gillette Silver Blue in the Slim.
Great smooth, close shave. I finished with the CC Frozen Vetiver. I am liking it.

    TSD Grey Vetiver type
    BodyShop synthetic
    Weber PH

3 passes and near BBS everywhere. The blade was a bit tuggy after a full head shave yesterday. Note to self - use a different razor for shaving your head.

Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch

Still on the road and still having the immense pleasure of shaving with this Mastro Livi CarboInox straight razor. I like everything about this razor: the blade is simply stunning with its two steels and the blue colored damascus steel, cocobolo scales are just beautiful, the combination of light and dark colors is amazing. A splash of my Bay Rum aftershave, for a refreshing and spicy shave!

    5/8 "Fritz" Dovo
the last of the Tabac soap
    homemade boar
O.K. shave this morning. I ended up having to do quite a bit of work on the Dovo to get it shave ready so I might have missed it by a little. I also have a new stone that I'm messing with to so it wasn't the original recipe when it came to honing. Have a good one. It's nice to be home again but work isn't going good for me. I guess the next day or 2 will tell the tale.

    SOTD Sunday

    Razor - 1965 Slim (9 WTG, 9 ATG, 5 XTG)
    Blade - 7 O'clock Green
    Brush - WD silvertip
Soap - Maggard Limes & Bergamot
    AS - Barbasol

You read it right - I had the razor on 9 for the first two passes. Enjoyed the first pass so much I just forgot to "dial it down" until I was almost done with #2. The nick on my lip tipped me off. Used the 7 O'clock Green blade for the first time. Didn't like the Black too much. The green have me a very nice shave. We'll see. I'm not sure about shave ratings, but this might be a BBS, who knows. Best shave in a while.

    yesterday / today
    PSO: Palmer's oil
    lather: Arko / Fume
    brush: Omega 31064 / turkish #6
    blade: Astra SP (3) / Ladas (1)
    razor: Muhle R41 2013 / Standard Razor
finish: tuxxdk 's fantastic DIY AS splash >here< / HolyRollah's awesome DIY balm >here<
Yesterday's third shave on my new R41 was nice. I tried going lighter, letting the razor talk to me. I ended up taking three passes to get the BBS (plus touchups, of course). I noticed a little bit of "scrapey-ness," but wasn't sure if it was technique still to be improved or the coming end of the blade. I shaved much later in the morning than on weekdays, but it lasted well past dinner time!

Today I decided to shake it up (no, NOT like Taylor Swift). Switching to The Standard Razor is a pretty big leap. I like the Standard and have gotten some really nice shaves from it. However, coming off the R41, it felt very strange to me. Though I have no lasting burn, I did irritate the skin in a couple of spots — enough so that I thought it best to use Kevin's balm. Man, that is some good stuff!

I think I'll use this Standard-Ladas setup a couple more times and then go with an injector. I am starting to ask myself "What do you really want from a razor?" I know I want to increase total shaving enjoyment, but I have no idea how to specifically answer that question!
