Oh hell no! (Oops, pardon my "French", padre). I'm still a coward, so I'll just stay on the sidelines and admire the view, so to speak.
SOTD: Wed. 2/11/15 It's tough for me to get in here and really post anything with my tax season hours. Mostly I just make irreverent comments and "like" posts. Anyway... Razor: Gillette Slim (9 WTG, 5 ATG, 5 XTG) Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (Yellow) Brush: WD Silvertip Soap: Maggard London Barbershop Maggard Alum Block AS: Barbasol PR Still playing with different blades. My last one was a 7 O'clock Green, which was a nice shave, but it only lasted 3 shaves then it was miserable. The SharpEdge is just that, sharp! Not particularly smooth (it seemed to grab a bit at first) but it did the job. Result was a very nice shave. I think I'm just confusing myself with all these different blades. I should have kept notes....
SOTD Feb 11th 64' Slim on #7 Rapira blade New Forrest high mountain brush Strop Shoppe bay rum soap CC bay rum AS This was a near as Ive got to a perfect shave. I slowed down, concentrated on light pressure and ended up with an incredibly smooth two pass shave. 12 hrs later and the face still feels great.
Hey Guys, after doing a 30 day rule I've been experimenting. I still using my Parker 99R and now using a Edwin Jagger DE89bl. I got a blade sample pack and I've noticed most all blades left some of the same trouble spots. Watched some videos about shimming razors lately and I let it grow about 2 days. Razor: EJ DE89BL Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (Black) with 2 shim blades Brush: Plisson Synthetic Pre: Cornhuskers Lotion Soap: TOBS Grapefruit AS: Crystal Deodorant, RSC Post Shave Soothing Balm I cut two old blades and shimmed the razor. It had the look of 'this gonna be different son'... I did 3 full passes but I think just 2 would have ended in a DFS. I ended up with a BBS. Trouble spots were no trouble with this setup. Much more aggressive feel from the EJ. Not sure I'd want to try this daily but after 2-3 days I think this may be the way to go. The Plisson lathers the TOBS in literally a few seconds. Amazing brush. So glad I picked one up. I really cant believe the difference that 2 shims made in this mild razor. Fantastic time shaving this evening!!!! Shave on Gents!!!!!!
FaTip Piccolo (Personna blue) MWF Post shave alum with cold water rinse Captain's Choice CoNT. A pleasant shave today. Having the FaTip in the rotation for a month or so, my opinion of it mirrors so many reviews I have read. It is a fickle somewhat aggressive razor that generally provides a nice comfortable shave. However, it doesn't quite measure up to my R41 (2013), which for me is pure shaving bliss. I would love to find a 2011 R41...
That's pretty funny. My daughter has been trying to get me to make a video, I'm a fan of Chris Bailey and watch his videos. Im not sure YouTube is quite ready for me I did standup back in the 80's, if I should ever revive my act I'll definitely talk about wet shaving.
THURzDAY Evening Shave for Tomorrow Great evening shave as I've come to expect from this big Wosty razor—probably the BEST antique store find I've ever had. The blade takes a great edge and shaves beautifully. The TGN synthetic knot has been such a pleasure to use, I'm regretting not having made the synthetic jump months ago. Exceptional brush! Have a wonderful Thursday, all!
