02/14/15 February Focus on Blades Prep – MR GLO Razor - Mongoose Satin B2 Blade – Kai Sharp (7) Brush – Every-Ready with TGN Finest Lather – Strop Shoppe Barbershoppe Post - Witch Hazel and Clubman AS Great 3 pass shave. Time to change the blade. Unlike the Feather Pro which could have easily went past 7 shaves, this one is done. No tugging or pulling but just had to work much harder for the results I wanted. Good thing that the Strop Shoppe is so slick. Finish off with Clubman to complete the Barber Shop theme.
My attitude towards higher end soaps and creams keeps evolving. After my shave I wipe off my face with a bright white cotton face cloth. Mainly because it's hard for me to lean over the sink and splash rinse but also because if there's any blood, nicks weepers, it shows. With soaps I almost never show any sign of hemoglobin, but creams usually leave sign even if it's just slight.. Now this was just my first time with this cream but the cloth was as clean as could be. The shave itself was heavenly smooth and comfortable. Hi Clint. I hope you are having a great weekend. Yes, I really like the brush. At first, I thought the handle was going to be too short. I have since modified my grip. I let the bottom of the handle sit right in my palm instead of holding it primarily by the sides. It fits my hand just fine and is very stable when I hold it this way. The knot is fantastic for face lathering. The tips are real soft, but it has just the right amount of back bone. It is easily my favorite brush. I plan to switch over to a "Walmart special" boar brush in March, and that is going to be a big adjustment. How do you like your RV brush? I really like the handle shape and the color of it. And your reviews of the Kai sharp blades in the Mongoose have been very interesting. It appears that they are working great for you.
Saturday Morning Shave of Sickness I've been sick all week and haven't shaved since Monday. So, I had a lot of scruff to scrape off. It called for a special preshave, Pre: Hot shower, noxzema. Razor: Gillette Fat Handle Tech Blade: Personna Lab Croap: Proraso White Post: NONE A really nice shave. Very solid DFS. I chose to skip an aftershave as it may irritate my sinuses (more so than normal).
Get well soon, and I hope you feel well enough to enjoy tomorrow's shave! The flu has been rough in my neck of the woods this year also. So far, my Bride and I have been very fortunate...

You are so tempting me to order another RV brush with that knot. I love my brush. I like big handles and RV hit this one out of the park. The Kai Sharp has worked great this week. Very consistent in performance and feel throughout the week. However, I do not believe they would last as many shaves as the Feather Pro. Coupled with them being harder to get and more expensive, I'll most likely not settle on them as the go to blade for the Goose. The coming week, I use the Feather Pro Guard and finish up with the Feather Super Pro. I hope that doesn't end in a blood bath.
Razor: Gillette gold toggle (D1) 1958 (5) (3) Brush: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Boar Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Soap: Pre de Provence Shea Butter soap Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS Frosted Glass 1960 I have been trying to get this OS boar brush to work for me, since I'm an OS junkie, but I mostly use creams so my soft badgers work great and feel great on my face. I decided to use it on the PDP soap to help me with the lather. Worked great after soaking the PDP for a few minutes in hot water. The brush has softened up a lot and felt good on my face. Special days call for special razors, and to me the toggle is as special as it gets. I believe I'm the only one to have ever shaved with it and It is by far the best shaving razor I have ever used. Two no pressure passes WTG XTG on 5 and one ATG on my neck on 3 with only a slight touchup around the scar on the right side of my neck. Very close, very smooth, no burn shave. The PDP played a role, as it gives a great slick cushion, must be the Shea butter. Cucumber WH felt good, and after cleanup some JB gel, and Vintage OS Lime. Ahhhh!

Add 1 1/2 shots of bourbon (or better yet, Apple Bourbon, or any high proof adult beverage). Twist a 3x1/2" strip of lemon peel into the mug, or a squirt of limon juice.
