I think it was the first time using the Silver Blues since my initial 30 day rule in October. Performed very well,, but after using Personna 74* the day before everything else is 4 steps down IMO. Nice Menthol finish on a fine 2 degree morning.....
Menthol Monday -6° outside and inside today. The FrostByte-Frostbite combo is as cold as I've ever felt in a shave. I cannot argue with the results - nice smooth shave. Only one weeper due to operator error. The New LC is my favorite three piece razor - close and comfortable almost every time. Gillette New Improved Bulldog Gillette Silver Blue Semogue BC Mistura Arko SS Alum I really enjoy my New Improved. I also am not sure if it is the more aggressive razor or the extra glide that Arko provides over the IK, but my last few shaves have been fantastic and lasted well enough that I could easily skip a day.

Menthol Monday: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Asco SS: Red (3) Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (7, 8, 9) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy It is probably instructive for me to consider how amazing my lather seemed this AM, after a week of using the Ogallala shave stick; previously, I had always found the lather of the Stirling products not quite up to snuff, but this AM it seemed as if it were positively exploding off my brush. No doubt, it benefited from the comparison. The shave was very chilly, but very comfortable, with no nicks, weepers, or irritation, but the blade's advancing age made it such that three passes - with no true ATG pass - only produced DFS+ results.
Here's how I see the Frost_byte soap and Glacial soaps. The Glacials rank as 10/10 on my menthol scale and the Frost_byte rank at around 9 & a half/10, so there really isn't much difference. Both brands are DARNED frigid.
I'm thinking about ordering that soap also. But, I can't imagine it being quite as intense as Frost_byte or a Glacial.
That is some brush, Patrick. Have you given it a name? If not you should. It is your preferred brush!
