CRSW Bergamot & Bay today. 20 seconds to load the ER Silvertip. Great, easy, thick, lather. I loaded a new “Spoiler” in the Red Tip. Nice smooth, close, shave. I finished Fine Platinum.
The Red Tip and “Spoiler” are a great team!!

Bob. I've thought about a red tip. What's the difference between the red tip and the regular SS? Is it just the weight/handle or is the blade gap/exposure different, too? Nice razor/pic, BTW. Sweet brush.

It is the most "aggressive" of the Super Speeds. The Blue, the Regular, and then the Red. The gap/exposure is greater. I get a closer shave than with a regular SS. Without getting into too many details, there are acutally two different weight Red Tips, but not by much. I really like mine....................

Thanks. I don't like the regular SS, I think it's too mild, and never had a good shave with one. Was thinking if the red tip was only heavier it wouldn't matter much. But with a bigger gap it's worth a try. Now I can finally get a birth year razor (57).

Great 3 pass shave this morning. I really like using the MdC. Lather and slickness are fantastic and rinses off so clean. Dove AS Balm to help on a cold day.

The Red Tip was my favorite of all the SS I've owned. Loved the heft & feel of the handle compared to the other models.

Loving the Soap Commander products so far. This was my first shave with the samples I got in this weekend. They graciously included the Balm sample, so I tried the matching soap scent out with it. Love the performance and scent, and can't wait to try my other samples out. Seem like great folks too.

Found out last night in my infinite ignorance that the Personna Platinum in the 10 pack, and the carboard 5 pack Personna "Reds" are the same blade. So I double bought that particular blade. No a big deal since I got the best shave since I started using a DE with it. The Personna's seem to be my favorite blades of all that I've tried so far. Now I need to try the Med Prep version and see how that works for me. Just have to track some down.

Thanks padre, good to know. I just wanted to make sure the gaps were bigger, not just that the razor weighed more, which Bob confirmed.

Having just received both the soap and the AS together and only trying it once (this morning) the jury is still out. The soap is a keeper so far. It lathers like a champ and provided a nice shave. The AS on the other hand was not an instant favorite. Initially is had an overpowering rubbing alcohol blast with no typical bay rum burn . The bay rum scent is quite mild and undetectable after a few minutes.

Jumping on the Red Tip Bandwagon this morning. All of the Super Speeds deliver a great shave and the Red Tip is the most aggressive of them. Paired with a good blade they are exceptional.

Thank you. Sounds like its a good soap =) Its not the first time I hear that the AS is not the best =P you're not alone
Im on a bay rum "want" high. Only tried 1 so far, but have 2 other. The stirling bay rum is a very nice scent, also the Barrister and Mann and Colonel conk. But I haven't tried the last 2 =P i will soon.

image.jpg Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech NDC (declared 1947) Birth Year
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 30/45
Mug: Old Spice (late glass Mug 02) 1964 – 1978
    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit
    Blade: Feather (1)
Pre shave: Tree Hut Shea Body wash Mango
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, TOBS
The Gillette Tech is a nice mild razor for me even with a Feather blade.. It does give me some burn if I use to much pressure and I go over an area more than once on each pass. The pre shave Shea soap helps keep my skin slick in the drier weather. The WD brush whipped up a thick warm lather in the OS Mug as it was sitting on a wash cloth, for padding, in the sink that was filled with hot water. The Silvertip is soft and warm on my face with that TOBS Grapefruit smell. Very nice two pass shave with some touchup. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm and some TOBS AS. Have a good one.
