Ok, thought I'd see if we'd have any takers on this - if we do great - if not nothing lost ========================================================================= Rules: 1. On Wednesday the previous Friday SOTD Photo Theme 'winner' posts the theme for the upcoming Friday. 2. Anyone can enter and can interpret the theme in any way they want (creativity is encouraged). Photos are to be posted by end 0f Friday (can be posted wed-fri). 3. Sometime on the weekend the person who posted the theme picks the photo that he/she thinks best represents the theme - note: it is not the "best" photo in terms of resolution, sharpness, etc - but the photo that does the best job capturing how the person interpreted the theme. 4. On the coming Wednesday ..... see Rule #1. And that's it - it's basically after the first week 'run' by the 'winner' (in lack of better word) and the participants after that. ==========================================================================
So, to start this Friday Theme Photo thing off I decided to pick a theme that it would be interesting to see how you clever people would interpret: The theme for this Friday is...... "Country" (As a a reminder, as this is the first week, it is up to YOU to interpret that word through your Shave Of The Day (SOTD) photo...it can be C&W music, a sweeping landscape, farm animals... - anything goes). What to do: Post your photo in this thread by end of Friday (whatever time zone you're in) and label it "Country" and for this week I'll pick the 'winner' who will then be responsible for next week's theme. Sound like fun? If so, please join
Is this a SOTD pic with a country theme, is that the idea? Just create the best SOTD with the theme "country"?
No problem. As it turns out, I have put together an entry for Friday. I got to thinking (dangerous at my age) and I came up with something country.
I didnt get any inspriation from my gear so I just went with changing up my "shavetrack". I am not a big country music fan but you HAVE to love Johnny Cash. In the spirit of retro and frugality I tossed on my Goodwill vinyl find for this mornings shave. Prep: Warm shower and St Ives oatmeal face wash (not pictured) Preshave: Noxzema Soap/Cream: Proraso Green Brush: L’Occitane synthetic Razor: Razorock Jaws open comb Blade: Crystal Post shave: Cold water rinse, Alum stick, L'Occitane balm, Master's talc
Thanks @idvsego - nice! I'd say if we only get 5 or less contributions we might end this little experiment early - we'll see
well, we could give it another topic or two. This one was actually really broad and took some thinking. I wanted to do all English stuff and make it an "English country side" kind of thing but couldn't put it together in time. I think a lot of people just need to see the entries to get the idea. But this might be tougher to do with the shave stuff but I can think of challenges that might get some participation. a sandalwood challenge "spice it up" with anything that has a spice component in it specific country of origin (brand, manufacture, or "just inspired by") open comb/adjustable/slant bowl challenge big lather fruit mad scientist (superlather, soap combos/glycerin additions/aftershave mixes) etc etc etc generally the post with the most commitment tot he theme or creative interpretation wins. Say a sandalwood challenge comes up and one guy uses sandalwood bodywash, shave soap, as, and cologne...well he wins, hands down. I would vote for someone who posts a sandalwood product I have never seen before as well. Never seen it but if someone had a brush handle in sandalwood that would be awesome.
2/20/2015 Country Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Cobra Classic, Wade & Butcher Bow straight razor Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild (2) Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair Soap: L'Occitane - Cade After: Home made ASB Cologne: MFK - Oud Wow! It is cold. It was -14 degrees this morning when I got up. The warm scuttle was a nice treat. The Vie Long brush whipped up the Cade into a nice warm lather. The Cobra and the Bow performed exceptionally. The ASB did it's job and the Oud will keep me smelling great for the rest of the day. All in all I ended up with a BBS shave. Have a blessed day!
Thanks. The pictures are of me on steers and bulls. The one on the left is autographed by the other man in the photo, 1992 PRCA bullriding champ Cody Custer. The other items are all trophys of some sort, including the spurs that you can barely see. Here are some other photos for anyone interested. I had to include a color shot of my chaps.
