I've found mine to be on the mild side as well. For me, it may be my mildest open-comb razor in my den.

I can't say that I disagree with your results -- mine were somewhat similar -- though I found with some of the blades purported to be sharper (Ladas, Gillette Silver Blue, Personna Med Prep) that I got a better shave. Still not a one-pass shave, though.

For me, the best feature of this razor is the remarkably grippy handle. The knurling is very nice. That said, I guess I would classify this as a fairly unremarkable shaver. I wanted to like it more.... I really did. It's cool looking. But it's, well, sort of an average shaver.

Also, I didn't notice much "audible feedback" with the Phoenix. Certainly not as much as from a Maggard or Lord.

Well after a few more shaves I not really feeling the love for this razor. I just need something a bit more aggressive. It's a beautiful and mild shaver so it will be looking for a good home.

just recieved my new razor from mike, thanks! it looks great and i am excited to shave with it.

full-disclosure: (short version) i require very mild shaves
(long version) with fatboys and SA's i set the level to one. i even modified a progress xl (no longer have it, didn't like the head curvature) to go even lower as well as a futur and futur clone to lower its blade height. i bought a vision2k primarily cause i could adjust the blade so low; you could have it below the safety bar which i did to "park" the blade when not in use (sold that one too, my loss was small and was able to sell to a guy in australia at a price he couldn't get otherwise).

I was interested in this one because of the looks; it *looks* like a dragon mated with a shark and the love child was adopted by a motorcyle gang... i love that look but thought "eh... other people's mild isn't so much to me" (lifetime of sensitive skin, nerve damage and weird lay of whiskers from surgery and radiation from cancer treatment). the yanking of cartridge razors was always painful, i could even cut myself with an electric razor! i wasn't able to use aftershave or lotions until i started using a DE razor about a year and a half ago.

however on mike's detailed description of his results; i thought that it sounds perfect for me.

I'll be shaving with this later today and will update afterwards. Thanks again mike, for the cool razor and the great deal!

Mine is still in the rotation. It's not my favorite but I do like the look, the deeply knurled handle, and the fact that it's a mild shaver. To me, it reminds me a little of the grille of a 1940s Chevy... Or a little of the creature from Alien. :)

the most mild OC razor i've ever used! had to keep remembering the curvature of the blade to adjust the angle. wonderful geometry. only negative i can think of is that i'd like it heavier. i tend to prefer heavies to allow gravity to cut and me to apply almost no pressure; perhaps i'll get a heavier handle. this one is definitely staying in the regular rotation!

I really want to try one of those unfortunatley it will have to wait a month or so since I just purchased a New and a Red tip. Darn the budget.

Different looking razor, but in a good way. If I were looking for something different, it would be that one.
