Mail Call today 2-26-15....lots of stuff to try out! I might have to shave everyday to get this stuff used!
I have a tub of Cella on the way. Also decided to try the Rose of Bulgaria shave cream and aftershave. They ship directly from Bulgaria, so I may still be a few weeks out on getting them....
Some with say "fun" and others with say "crazy". LOL I am just trying a few til I make my mind up on the gear setup! Razor wise, mainly!! Does anyone know if the Red tip or Blue tip actually means anything regarding aggressiveness or blade gap or whatever or is it just a weight deal?? Thx.
red. more aggressive plain. middle road blue. milder idk how they differ, beit blade gap, geometry. but that's how they rate. nice haul btw
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that either and I assume that you are only referring to the Flair Tip models! I am trying to figure out what is what so I can hang onto a couple of these that are NOT the same type (aggressive wise) so I have a mix! Do you know where the black handle Super Speed or the plain Super Speed ones falls into the mix compared to these Red and Blue Flair tips?
the black tip was a transition from the original super speed from the forties and the flared end in the fifties. the black tip has two variant models steel handle aluminum handled they were only a year or two, like 51/52. the aluminum had a plastic tip. I had the steel. it shaved very nice. sorta mild, but efficient. I gave it to my brother in law, it was his birth year. so to answer, the black tip. not same era as blue silver and red.
I've become a brushaholic lately. Have 3 more en-route Rooney Heritage Beehive 3 Simpson Super Badger Tulip 4 WW Synthetic
You are referring to a black tip or a black handle Super Speed as shown in my pic earlier! Mine is a 1971 R2 based on date code and looking for info to where it falls into the aggressive stand point! I dont have a black tip one but I do also have a 1952 Super Speed. It is plain jane no colored tip or handle and I shaved with it one and thought it was too mild for me.
no I was not referring to a black handled super speed. I was talking about a black tip. sorry no pics.
Yeah, that is what I thought. I am looking for info on the 1971 black handled (Super Speed?, which is pictured earlier) and my 1952 Super Speed (not pictured in the my post above)! Thx.
I have a 1955 Gillette A3 Super Speed Flare Tip I like it very much. No coloring, I believe it is steel.
I think my 1952 X3 Super Speed is also chrome/nickel over brass! I think it is considered the '40's style Super Speed!!
