Am I the only one bothered by the upside down soap? It might just be my OCD

The inside of the container is clean. Maybe the shaver loads the soap in his hand, rinses it off, and returns it to the container. Just a thought.

It was the first use of the Cade so the container is not nearly as clean now. It's in there upside down because the diameter of the bowl and that side of the soap are nearly the same. The soap moves around less when working the brush that way.

    March 1 Plans

    Stirling Sheep Soap
    Merkur 37C Slant Bar
    Feather blade (day 1)
    Ever-Ready C40 Boar
Stirling Naked and Smooth soap & D.R. Harris Almond cream
    Three passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, & unrefined shea butter

I will shave with one of my favorite razors during March, a Merkur 37C. I will begin the month with my Ever-Ready boar brush. I've had it a long time, but it's still like new. I have some MdC on order, and I may switch over to one of my badger brushes to try it out.

    Have a blessed Sunday, all!

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Beeline Boar
    Soap: Speick cream
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (4, 5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Speick AS splash
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange

I hadn't shaved in a couple of days, so I had plenty of stubble to sacrifice on the Bic blade. I'll be using even more Ginger's Garden for most of this month than usual, but I wanted to start the month off with the Speick, which whipped up to a great lather with the Beeline Boar brush that is 1) finally breaking in so the tips are soft, and 2) shedding enough that it won't last through the summer, in all likelihood. Three comfortable passes produced nearly BBS results - relative to the lack of an ATG pass - with only one tiny weeper on my throat.

This set-up would be perfect for a Menthol Monday Shave because it can turn a guy's face into a block of ice. I had pretty good lather from the Glacial Wintergreen soap, and the menthol effect took hold right away - by the way, it's a good idea to keep the lather away from your eyes if you don't want them to start tearing. The second pass felt so damned cold that I could hardly feel the blade on my face. The Visal gel is nicely-scented, and EXTREMELY cold - in fact I think it's about as cold as the Rubby Dubby Doo. What a great shave this was. I really love these SuperMax Blues. ;) :D

Mastro Livi Inox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point

This is the latest razor I ordered to Mastro Livi and this is going to be added to the ones I will bring with me on my business trips. Very simple, yet effective, it is a 6/8 with a round point, made from the very same stainless steel used for Grifetto, it in fact has the "Inox" mark handwritten by Mastro Livi. Just like every other straight razor made by Mastro Livi and using this stainless steel, it gives a lovely and smooth shave, something I would consider in-between carbon steel and RWL-34. Of course, this is the razor i am going to bring with me on my next business trip!
    • Pre-Shave: Myrsol Emulsión

    • Razor: Mastro Livi Inox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point

    Sherlock Sunday
I got some Chiseled Face on the recommendation from a friend. I chose Sherlock because the scent description was interesting. The soap lathered easily and provided plenty of glide and protection. The scent is subtle in the soap, but it surprised me. I was expecting a dark leathery peppery tobacco type, but this one opens with a bright refreshing sweetness. The aftershave opens the same way, but dries down to a leathery masculine scent. I like it. The aftershave also has a significant alcohol, then menthol kick before the scent develops. In the winter I might add a balm for extra moisture, but this combo could easily stand on its own in warmer months.
The Gillette New LC is a smooth operator. Nice and easy today, leaving my skin smooth without irritation.
    Prep: Kiehl's face wash
    Soap: Chiseled Face Sherlock
    Brush: HIS lather monster
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Voskhod (1)

Prep: hot shower, face wash and Cornhusker's Lotion
    Lather: homebrew leftovers and samples
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061M
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post: cool rinse and Old Spice

2nd lather with this soap and the Vie-Long brush. It was okay, but I think I learned that my little cheap synthetic BodyShop brush does better with this soap mixture - a collection of slivers and samples too small to lather on their own have been tossed into a tub over the past year. I will confirm the lather tomorrow - or perhaps this afternoon with a relaxing head shave.
