If it is the same as the one I bought, I have a feeling we will be discussing the remedy for this.

    Plan for Wednesday!
prep- hot shower, nitrogen facial scrub, proraso white pre-shave
    razor- 1960 gillette fatboy w/ feather (2)
    brush- wd 24mm silvertip
    Soap- Proraso red cream
aftershave- cold water rinse, nivea post shave balm

first time trying out the proraso red shaving cream was yesterday, I absolutely fell in love with it. Have to give it another run tomorrow. Also just got an omega 10049 in yesterday that I've been soaking and drying that will enter the rotation tomorrow i believe. made a test lather today with it and it was pretty difficult to get a lather going, hopefully that will change after it gets a little more broken in. The Proraso white I've been using for about a week now trying to get the feel for it, and so far i definitely like it more than other oils I have tried. Still deciding how much of a difference it makes. Pictures will be coming in future posts. ;)

    Tuesday morning's SOTD:
Prep - Hot face wash with Proraso red
Razor - Geo. Wostenholm and Sons "Pipe", 5/8, pointed toe, scale-less ATM
    Brush - Omega 80265 Boar
    Soap - Proraso Red
    Aftershave - Clubman
Balm - Nivea Double Action "Energy"
Scent - Tesori D'Oriente "Legno di Guajaco"

I wanted to test shave this razor before I decide to drop some change on new scales at the least, or scales + edge reprofiling.
I got a very good BBS 2-pass (XTG followed by ATG) despite the small chip in the edge at the heel. Definite keeper, Wost. made some very good blades with great steel.

Very nice setup Guy. How is that cobra treating you? Are you now a certified snake charmer or does it bite? I'm curious about that post shave cream. Where did you get it?

Have to say the Cobra when paired with my Tiki tallow soaps provides me the closest shaves I have ever gotten with any razor or shave soap combo to date. I didn't think I would come close to 10 shaves with a Feather as they fall off sharply for me at 4 shaves and six has been the best I have gotten with a Feather DE, but I would venture to say I can see at least 14 or even more shaves with this SE blade. Yes I am a believe now and can see why my brother in law is kicking himself for selling off his Cobra Classic. Shaves are close and efficient with no stragglers to chase down with touchups and hasn't produced any weepers. I am curious though how a Kai blade will compare to the Feaher Pro.

The Handmade Soap Co. Soothing Cream I picked up on another forum when I bought this cream along with a Jar of MdC Fougère and the MdC Huile végétale camomille I used in this morning shave. The Soothing cream actually is not needed as I do not obtain any irritation from shaving but I use it as a layer of protection from the cold windy mornings we are having here in Boise so I cannot comment on if it actually tames razor burn. The MdC Camomille I used this morning I really like. just a small dab melts on your skin and provides a really nice slick protection layer. First time using the Camomille and can say I will probably buy again as I really like it.

    Superb Shave
Der Vorschlaghammer returned today and reminded me why it's my favorite razor right now. The lather monster whipped CF Sherlock into yogurty goodness which set up my stubble for its comfortable demise. I expected a little extra burn from the CF Sherlock aftershave, but got very little. My face is exceptionally smooth and irritation free.
    Prep: Proraso White
    Soap: Chiseled Face Sherlock
    Brush: HIS lather monster
    Razor: der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
    AS: Chiseled Face Sherlock

    Wednesday's Shave

Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar
    Soap: Arko
    Brush: Omega 13522
Razor: '46-'50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech
    Blade: store brand Israeli Personna
Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Scent: Pinaud Clubman

This particular blade feels a bit different than the rest of the pack. Not as sharp maybe, maybe a bad blade? In any case I've decided I don't much care for them in the Tech. Decent 2 pass shave.

First time using RR tobacco #2. Very nice! If I had to pick between #1 or #2, I'd go with #1. Both great performers. F&C Shambala is AWESOME! Citrus in a bottle. This stuff has a nice long staying power.

I must say that this Dettol Cool cream is really good. The lather is easy to build, it has plenty of menthol cooling to it, although less than Godrej Menthol Mist. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and clean as well as cool. India makes some great creams. :)

    Modern Williams SS
    VDH boar brush

The VDH boar brush destroyed the Williams, produced a grand lather which, of course, lead to a great shave. WOOT!

    WEDNESDAY
Challenging 3-pass shave this morn as this Rodgers has a completely different 'feel' to it than all my other straights. It takes a wicked-sharp edge, its heavier than most other razors, and using the smiling blade shape takes some practice.
End result, though, was a near-BBS shave with no blood. :):happy088:
Have a great Hump Day, all!
