A few AS samples and a couple new brushes. Already enjoyed the 49 and looking forward to trying the Vie-Long. It has very soft and feathery tips - Plissonesque - but a nice backbone on it.
Managed to pry this package out of the limbo state it had existed in for some time by going down to the actual USPS office over lunch. Opening the package..it was all worth it...these three little beauties looked better than they did in the photo! Left to right: - Unknown razor with a thick bakelite baseplate, - Apollo razor from France, and - Personna DE razor Very neat and I LOVE that Apollo head
If/when I take the time to take a decent photo you'll be blown away at the rhodium plated Aristocrat #22 on the left. It's absolutely gorgeous. And it shaves good too.
I just got my rhodium plated #22 in this past week and I agree - wow, I never knew shiny could be that shiny! Sounds like we need a Rhodium #22 shine-battle I'm a few weeks away from being able to shave with it though... Darn s/sheet rules....
I cannot abide being tied down by a spreadsheet. Especially a self-imposed spreadsheet. That's just crazy talk.
Two custom brushes, the picture doesn't do the olive handle justice, it's amazing! The red & black acrylic is a silvertip The olive handle is a finest both are 22mm knots Done by Gluck Huckelson PAA ClubGuy soap & aftershave St. James of London Lavender & Geranium
It was a very, very 'golden' day today. These three happened to arrive on the same day The Black Beauty really surprised me - I love the long handle and the weight. This one does have some 'challenges' though. It works fine mechanically but the adjustments/opening the doors are not as smooth as they should be. Considering that I got it for a great price and that the plating is intact this might be a good candidate to have 'tuned up' professionally BUT first I'm going to give it a good soak and cleaning The Gillette Aristocrat was a very, very pleasant surprise. The photos of it didn't quite make it justice and I think that's why it ended up being as inexpensive as it was. It's purty and LOVE the handle! The Gillette Milord has some darker areas on the handle so we'll see how/if that cleans up but it might well be why this one also went for a pretty low price. I also get the feeling that Milords aren't as sought after as other Gillettes of that era. So, all in all a very golden day
Just gonna grab one each day and try 'em all out. So far I've liked 2 out of 2. On the way from Garry... poor postman.
I'm overly excited! I bet the neighbors thought I was on drugs looking through the window every 5 minutes waiting on the postman. Not sure what it smells like besides manly as my wife put it but it does smell good.
