Prep: Shower, Neutrogena Face Wash. Jojoba oil as a pre-shave.

    Razor: 1941 Gillette Ranger Tech.

    Blade: Baili Stainless.

Brush: Restored Ever-Ready with a pure badger knot.

Soap: WSP Rustic Shaving Soap "Fougère Noir".

    After: Proraso Lozione Dopobarba.

So I had a small balance left in my PayPal account and figured I'd use it to enhance my soap collection. Read a few reviews of the WSP rustic shaving soap collection and thought I would give it a try.

The scent is awesome. Not quite sure how to describe it. Razor Emporium describes it this way: "The scent is a Drakkar Noir type. An aromatic fougere with top notes of bergamot, rosemary, lavender, middle notes of cardamom & geranium, and a dry down of vetiver, cedar, and fir balsam." For me, I didn't get a Drakkar scent from it as much as I could smell the bergamot and lavender and the wood notes as well. I will be interested to see if my wife picks up on the Drakkar comparison... She used to date a guy who wore Drakkar, reportedly. Hopefully I haven't acquired some version of "Eau d'Ex-Boyfriend."

As for the lather, this stuff lathers like a dream, almost exploding off the brush. And it's a fairly firm soap, so my first couple of lathers with it didn't seem to wear it down much. It's rich and fairly thick and slippery, though doesn't have as much slip as Omega Crema da Barba (which I also love). I have hard water here, so a lather that whips up easily and lasts are critical. This certainly meets that criteria.

I also love that it comes in a metal screw-top tin that seems to have a water-resistant label. I'm fond of containers -- I have an unnatural fondness for places like The Container Store -- so this is a nice touch. They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but in this case the cover is an added plus.

All in all, a great head shave... With no errors on my part.

Oh, almost forgot about the Baili blade. I frankly haven't read anything about these but got them with a sample pack. I purposely didn't read anything about them or even search (yet) on Google or here or B&B to see what people had to say about them. The blade seemed pretty good to me... Maybe comparable to a Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow, and a little lower-rated (for me anyway) than a Gillette Silver Blue or an Astra. At least as good as the CVS-branded Personnas I've used. Now I will have to satisfy my curiosity and look up other people's reviews of the Baili blades. :)

My first ever shave with my short OC. Not bad.

A little aggressive. I had an excellent smooth thick lather but it still felt a little "scratchy" at times. Had a few scrapes but no weepers. Wtg and xtg passes. Just a slight sting when I put on the post shave, like a slight sunburn, but that's gone now.

    Overall a good shave. I'm learnin' ;)

Nice razor! A Richwood version with a Mahogany case just went for $197 today on the bay. The same bidder picked up a Arisocrat for $200 5 min later. Ahhhhhh

image.jpg TIME Keeps on ticking Tic Toc Tic Toc
Razor: Gillette Goodwill #162 1934 (4 corner positioning posts)
    Brush: e-shave finest Badger
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: Jack Black cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
    Watches: Steampunk Victorian Marine
    Cronosport Dive Watch 1982
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice

In keeping with the great Time theme Gary started yesterday, I thought I would give it a try. The Cronosport is my dive watch and has been down to 185 ft off Bonaire, on my wrist, a long time ago far, far away. The allusive time ......

OK, whipped up the JB cream in no time. Not wasting any time, just 2 passes WTG XTG on my face, and WTG ATG on my neck. The JB cream gives a nice cushion and complements the JB Post Shave Gel very well. No burn! And just in time, the Vintage OS tops it off nicely. tic, toc, tic,toc.................

    Pre - Corn Huskers
    Soap - RR XXX
    Brush - L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    Razor - Merkur 34C
Blade - Personna Lab Blue (1)
    AS - Aqua Velva

OK shave today. Used the Personna blue (made in USA) blade today. I used before with so/so results, decided to try again...same results in the Merkur 34C. Will try in different razor. Disappointing to me because I really wanted a USA made blade but with 2 tries I can't justify buying yet. Also finished off my RR XXX today, will not replace.

Coming from the master that means a lot, thank you! The Cronosport is mine since new and has been my dive buddy on every dive. The Steampunk is actually a picture on my iPad hiding in the shadows.

03/07 – The plastic 3D printed razor from @rsilvers provided a mostly BBS 2 pass shave. There was nothing left to touchup, and this was for two days growth. The lightness of the head required me to be very careful about not applying pressure but I still ended up with a couple decent weepers. The backbone and slight scritch of the Vie-Long delivered a great face lathering experience. Today was cheat day and it's back to the 30 day focus tomorrow.

Have you tried the 3D printed cap that goes on the 2013 R41? Depending on what version you choose I picked the C410i Spitfire Mk. Ia (2011 top cap) it is slightly sharper than my 2011 R41. Been awhile since I've been on their site but they were thinking of making handles then complete razor.

No, this is my only 3D printed hardware. Other than the lightness it is outstanding.
