I am kicking myself for not jumping on it when I saw it online the other day, shame on me for hesitating.

Celestino, your photos are always fun. Today, after my first glance on my smart phone screen, I was wondering, "where is the shaving gear?". Then I zoomed in! Lovely picture.

I don't usually do SOTDs, but i had to for my first SR shave.

    - Prep: hot shower, Proraso Red preshave, hot towel
    - Brush: Vintage Blades Finest, 22mm
    - Lather: B&M Caledonia Rose
    - Razor: Imperial 13/16 honed by reddit's RVmaster.
    - Razor: Standard (special black edition to highlight soap scum) with a Rapira Swedish blade
    - Splash: Captain's Choice Sandalwood
    - Balm: Stirling Sandalwood

Got my first SR in the mail yesterday and shaved with it late last night. After an initial moment of not even being able to figure out how to hold it and take it to my face, I jumped in and did my cheeks and sideburn areas WTG with no problem. Even switched hands without feeling too awkward with my left. Finished the pass with my Standard, lathered, and did a 2nd WTG pass on the same areas with the SR. Then decided to go N-S on the right side of my neck with the SR, too, since that it XTG there. Also managed that without incident. Finished that pass xtg with the Standard, and only used to Standard for my final atg pass.

All in all, it went well and, in the best sense, uneventfully. Very excited to have a whole new area of shaving to obsess about.

HA HA! Shaving glasses. That is pretty funny. I haven't come to that yet. I know where my face is, and I do it all by feel. All my equipment is laid out so I know where it is too.

No issues today with today's shave - it was a delight! (and ice-cold!) The Glacial Lavender soap delivered on everything from the scent and lather to the menthol freeze and skincare.

    Odin's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (4/1)
Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (10/1, 2)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
Cologne: Aoud Forest by Montale (sample)

"With the thoughts I'd be thinkin' I could be another Lincoln, if I only had a brain. . . ." I knew when I finished shaving yesterday that I needed to put a new blade in my 41c. I even mentioned it in the SOTD. Did that mean I remembered to do it? OF COURSE NOT. Naturally, this meant the first pass was tuggy and uncomfortable, despite good prep and great lather. Once the first pass was done, I tossed the blade, loaded up a fresh Bic, and found the rest of the shave MUCH more comfortable. I made one tiny adjustment this morning, trying a shallower angle, closer to 'riding the cap' than I normally do with the 41c; this seemed like it made the shave a tad closer - still DFS+ - and more comfortable.

Thanks, Mike and I apologize! It gets challenging to capture the scenery of Vancouver while trying to keep the gear displayed, prominently! :lyrtuy5:

Celestino, please don't apologize for your wonderful photo! I always zoom in on your photos to enjoy the detail. This one is excellent - sunlight refracting through the water and through the brush handle. It is definitely worth a second look.

Wednesday March 11, 2015 "Day off work shave"

Prep: Hot Shower and Dove soap for a deep face cleaning
PreShave: Homemade Preshave oil with peppermint. Also included a M-bomb today with the preshave.
    Soap: VDH also M-Bombed
    Brush: Omega Bambino
    Razor: Merkur BarberPole
    Blade: Astra SP
Post shave: Gentleman Jon alum block and cold water rinse
Aftershave: Witchhazel peppermint infused, Proraso Pre/post, Nivea cooling aftershave balm, Barbasol Pacific Rush.

Thoughts: What a beautiful day here in good ole southern Missouri! A great shave today's as well, I went for a "Menthol Monday" just cause I miss out on that reason being I shave on Wednesdays and Sunday's :p. The VDH M-bombed was fantastic and it seem to give the soap a little more luxury. The Merkur BarberPole was amazing again and it's beginning to be hard to put the razor down and go with another for a while! The Omega Bambino brush continues to break in and to impress me with every lather. The brush is just a champ in my book for performance for such a small brush! Hope everyone else's shave was just as good! Have a great day and God Bless!

No the razor handle is from elite razor I bought so many from him he send me two blanks to make my own for free. Pretty nice of him

I make my brushes this one is cedar some of my others are cypress the look almost identical. I am suppose to get some scrap cypress from a cypress lumber mill sometime this month they are next to my father who has a dairy and they buy milk from and one day dad showed him a brush I made and they said I could have all their scraps but I don't know how big the scrap pieces will be yet. But they will have a lot of exotic wood scraps also so I am excited to see what I get.

Thanks for the compliment on the brush the big 30 mm knots are very nice they waste soap but as my wife points out I have for soap under the sink than the shave stores have lol

How aggressive is the cadet open comb compared to an ikon oc and a fatip?

    RaZorBurn123 waiting hardily...............

It doesn't. It's a completely different shave, extremely mild, very easy to find the cutting angle, very very light. Although I did have two outstanding shaves I wouldn't trade my 102 or RRSS for the RRBS. I can see the RRBS being used for when I shave my head, every other day. It's definitely worth picking one up, my razor is in excellent condition. I did put shaving soAp down the handle to loosen it.
