http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...ermining-time-length.42857/page-5#post-804145 A new blade and razor in the series ... Day 46.
Had to give up on the Ikon OC as a daily razor. 10 days in a row resulted in two miserable razor burned/irrated skin days and several mediocre shaves. I went back to my Fatboy for the last couple shaves and instantly I'm back to great shaves. I think Ill step away from the focus/rule idea as I really missed having the variety on a daily basis.
March Focus - Vintage and Carbon March 12, 2015 - Week 2 Day 6 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Proraso Green Razor - '59 Superspeed (birth year) Blade - (2) Post - RazoRock Alum & Proraso Day two of the backup for the week after the carbon blade died. The superspeed and Kai blade really work well together. Two days of great shaves. Did a 3 pass today and got a DFS very easily. Very comfortable with little irritation. I could get used to this! Nice having an all Proraso day as well. Love the menthol goodness!
March Focus- Be modern, Learn to use my Feather Artist Club razor. Any touch ups with a modern DE. March 13th, SOTD (Shave 8 of the focus) One and a half day's growth Prep: Hot Shower Razor Start: Feather Artist Club SS non-folding with Pro-Guard Blade (5th shave on blade) Razor Finish: Van Der Hagen/ Weishi DE Blade:Feather- Stropped 30 times per edge (1st shave on blade) Soap: Barrister and Mann Cedar, Lavendar, and Lime Tallow based soap, bowl lathered Brush: Omega 1066 Boar Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Block, styptic pencil Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Kyovu Original Two pass shave today. Did one pass WTG with the Feather Artist Club. One weeper. Did an ATG pass with the VDH razor. Was considering doing an XTG pass with the Artist Club, but I didn't really need one. The VDH razor is too mild. I have a hard time getting the whiskers on my chin to cut with it, even with a Feather blade. Overall, DFS.
March Focus - New LC as a daily shaver. Today is day 16 with the LC. I've not found that elusive 2 pass DFS with this razor just yet, but 3 passes have been easy and I've had no razor burn, nicks or hardly any weepers. I've changed blades every 3 shaves and everything seems very smooth. So far I've used Feathers, Gillette 7 O'Clocks and now Wilkinson Sword blades. All provide smooth and efficient shaves, although the Wilkinson's seem to be the best of these with this razor. I must say that my neck is smoother than with any other razor I've used so this may help make the New LC my main whisker removal device.
03/13/15 Prep – MR GLO Razor – Gillette New Long Comb Blade – Persona Lab Blue (3) Brush – RV with TGN Finest Lather – MdC Post - Witch Hazel and Dove AS Balm Very good 2 and 1/2 pass shave this morning. The New LC continues to deliver consistently good shaves with no irritation. As usual the MdC soap does not disappoint. Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
March 12, 2015 : Last nights shave Pre- Face wash with warm water Brush Soak- Sriracha Mug of Doom™ Razor- Ikon 102 Slant Blade- Personna Soap- Sapone Di Paolo Brush- VDH boar Post- Cold water rinse, Osma Alum block, Thayers Witchhazel Aftershave- Sapone Di Paolo Balm Two and a half passes :WTG , XTG, cleanup One weeper with the new blade, tiny one so no big deal. Had a little more irritation from the alum this time. Better shave than the last one though. Still pretty smooth this morning, as opposed to last time where I was pretty stubbly. .
Late post for Thursday....I got it in! Will post pic for today...hope everyone is having a great week!
March Focus - Vintage and Carbon March 13, 2015 - Week 2 Day 6 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Arko Razor - '59 Superspeed (birth year) Blade - (3) Post - Cold water rinse and out the door! Long day. Had to leave in a rush so a quick 2 pass for the DFS and gone. Glad I had the Kai loaded because this blade is really performing well and gave me the quick easy shave. Hope tomorrow is as good because it starts even earlier, and today is just ending now. Due back in less than 8 hours. Sheesh! Happy Friday/Saturday everyone! No time for a picture today so in honor of the Japanese Kai..........
If this is Fraiday night....to Saturday..... then I am tired and confused! I normally work nights, but had a two day course, so had to be up early and shave. I got two days great results. In fact, I am checking my 21 hour old shave, and it really does not feel too bad, considering. Again, I really like the results of the SE stainless PTFE blade and the 1914 March 24 patent lather catcher.
03/14/2015 Prep – MR GLO Razor – Gillette New Long Comb Blade – Persona Lab Blue (1) Brush – RV with TGN Finest Lather – MdC Post - Witch Hazel and Dove AS Balm I really love weekend shaves since I have more time. Fantastic 3 pass shave this morning with only minor touch ups around my chin. Chased the baby and caught it. I am amazed at how much I enjoy the MdC, super easy to lather.
It's a nice "change of pace" cream for the price. I just wish the Rose scent in both the cream and the aftershave was a bit stronger and longer lasting. It's a great, fresh rose smell, but very faint....
