Is that a vintage tin of Three Nuns, or the new version?

It's current production. And a fave.

I've read from time to time about Three Nuns, especially when reading about Three Friars, but never tried either one. Both are on my list to try. Supposedly Three Friars was inspired by Three Nuns, but never intended to be a copy.

I mostly limit my smoking to VaPer Flakes, Va/Burley Flakes, and Navy Flakes. Occasionally I smoke an English mixture when I want a more cigar like, thicker smoke. The only Cavendish mix I like is Orlik Golden Mixture. I don't venture around much. Under Colorado conditions (altitude, 15% humidity, WIND), a folded and stuffed Flake is safest in an open pipe when outdoors. Mixtures, ready rub and shag send too many embers out of the pipe. I smoke in the Garage/man cave setting, so wandering outside is a certainty.

Sounds a lot like my preferences. I've preferred flakes lately, sometimes folding and stuffing, sometimes rubbing out. However, I'm getting ready to order some new blends, and not flakes for a change.

I've got a little experience with Colorado, having spent some time in Boulder and Estes Park. I loved it out there. One of the most memorable things we've done as a family was take a horseback ride at daybreak in the Estes Park area. Watching the sun come up over the mountains, and having a breakfast made over a campfire was a great experience.

This a Stefano Santambrogio pipe, made in Italy, shown with my favorite Wenger Swiss Army knife. The Stefano is a really nice pipe, with a beautiful band and white lucite stem. This picture doesn't so it justice. My old iPad2 doesn't do very well in lower light, and the sun had already gone down around the corner of the house by the time I got around to making this. I'll make another picture sometime in better light. Had a bowl of Villiger 1888 After Dinner, folded and stuffed.

Beauty of a pipe. I dig 1888 After Dinner too...

Nothing special today. Just some Orlik Golden Sliced out of a Parker Jockey Club.

I've been constantly checking at The Briary for Esoterica Dorchester, my favorite VaPer, but haven't seen any for quite some time. Stopped in today, still no Dorchester, and the owner told me he hasn't seen any in 3 years. He did suggest I try a bulk he had just gotten in and had never carried before, McClelland 5100 Red Cake, a straight red Virginia. In the bag inside his walk-in humidor, it did not seem to have the trademark McClelland ketchup/vinegar smell, and didn't feel goopy as so many bulks do, so I got a couple of ounces. Looked this up on Tobacco Reviews, and it gets consistently high reviews, both as a stand alone, and as a blending tobacco. I'm looking forward to trying it, and may pick up a tin of blending Perique to try my hand at my own VaPer! if it works out, I can see getting a pound or two of this to cellar.

I intend to order some Three Friars upon your post info. Three Nuns is in my top five. Gonna be some GLP JackKnife Plug before bed, cut into flake then rubbed. Will report tomorrow!

I'd love to meet up with you at The Briary, that's a neat place to hang out, shoot the breeze, tell a few lies, and maybe even buy something! Skip, the owner, is a great guy. I've known him since 1978, when I bought my first pipe from him when he had a Tinder Box store. I really lucked up, had no idea what I was buying, and all I knew for years was it was a really nice smoking pipe. It was a Charatan, with the classic bell shaped bowl. I've been offered many times over what I paid for it, but I wouldn't part with it.

Seriously, if you can let me know, I'd like to meet you there.

It's not a given yet that I can make it...but I wouldn't dream of going without telling you in advance. I hope we can work it out! That would be way cool! I would love to meet you and check out your fave shop!

Pipe shop liar's clubs in the Deep South are a blast! Mine was Humidor Pipe Shop in Huntsville, Alabama's oldest continuously operated tobacco biz.

Powerful... So little blond that the dark fired KY really shined. Think it might be like smoking a early nineties Fuente in the kitchen at Dreamland.

I guess I'm a wimp, but I don't like pipe tobaccos that strong. The 2 Pease blends I've tried kicked my fanny, so I'm thinking that may be a thing with him. One was Haddo's delight, and the other was Abingdon.

Now I do like the Fuentes cigars I've tried. And I certainly like Dreamland!
