getting my first DE razor can you check my shopping list to make sure it is ok please.

Ok since this won't let me post any links i'll just say what i'm looking at
the razor is a lord l6 9$
blades are 20 Feather Razor Blades NEW Hi-stainless Double Edge 6$
brush is 100% badger 11$
and the lather is proraso shaving soap with eucalyptus 5.2 oz for 8$
i'm sure you guys see these post all the time any help would be great thanks, steve

 

Welcome Steven. I see nothing there that I wouldn't use however, I would go a little deeper and buy several different blades. The Proraso is a great product.

 

I would get a blade sampler pack instead of starting with the Feathers. The Feather is a very sharp blade and probably isn't the best choice to start with.

I would recommend an Omega 49 instead of an $11 badger, but that's just my preference.

Proraso is a good soap, it's also available as a cream, and Bath and Body Works sells it under the brand name of CO Bigelow.

 

Looks like a good economical start. I'm sure others will agree that just one blade type, especially Feather, is not the optimal starting choice. Get a sampler instead, one that includes Feather, Astra, Personna, and others. Try them all. Then decide which was best.

nice shave, not real hard on the pocket.

If you don't go the sampler route then get Astra SPs instead if Feathers.

I also second the Omega Boar brush recommendation, although my vote would be for a 10066 model.

 

Definitely recommend you try a blade sampler pack. For me, Astra SPs and Polsilvers SIs have been the best blades so far.

 

Welcome! Can't speak for all the gear, but +1 on a sampler. Also, dirt cheap boars are pretty good!

 

Master those tools and you will be a happy shaver. Blade sampler is a good idea.

I'm surprised no one has recommended a blade sampler pack
I, too, would recommend an Omega boar brush. Doesn't matter which one, can't go wrong with Omega. Just get the one you like the looks of.
Great razor choice. I've used it with excellent results.

 

I would be tempted to skip the Prorasso and brush and get the Van Der Hagen luxury shave set. You'll get decent soap, a decent brush plus a stand and shaving mug. It's a little more expensive than the soap and brush you lost but not by much. Good razor choice!

Looks good to me also. I would also look at a sampler purchase of blades.

 

Feather blades are starting you in the deep end of the pool and you may want to add an after shave balm (Nivea is good and readily available) but you're ready to go!

..I am new to this and I have avoided Feather blades on the advice of others....
Re the after shave balm, I use the Niva already mentioned and find it very good..I would go as far as saying a good shave balm is a must regardless of the blade...The alum block mentioned is pretty cheap and gives good results leaving your skin feeling "tight".. It also stops bleeding from weepers and minor nicks ect and I believe is a mild antiseptic..
