Received ONE package yesterday but it contained three razors and one mug: 1) Pomco slant It looked as bad as it did in the photos - apart from the top of the head that looks new. Go figure. If I remember correctly the Pomco is chrome plated everywhere but the middle of the handle which is silver plated - that might explain why that part is greenish. This is a very cool slant though - love the head and the handle feels great as it has a nice heft to it. It will be very interesting to see how/if it cleans up - case looked really nice. If I truly love it it might even go to the 'someday I'll replate these razors'-pile. 2) Esko slant In much better condition than the Pomco. Handle is lighter but has a nice width/size to it. Really neat looking slant head. 3) Gillette ABC razor A bit worn. Some plate loss on the handle but the head is for some reason in really nice condition. My first little ABC so will be fun to try out.
Also received this mug as a 'side'/bonus item to one of the razors. Never having used a mug like this does anyone know how they were actually intended to be used? Is it just to keep filled with warm water and let the brush rest on the internal shelf with the holes to keep it warm - or was lather actually build in it as well? Side view: Top view: Bottom view:
o Gary said it would. I haven't tried it before. I kneaded in about two and half ounces, almost so much that I thought it was too much. then flattened it out in the tub. then sealed it up. that was like two weeks ago. I'll let you know more when I open it up. d
From a time when indoor plumbing was uncommon. Soap goes in the area with holes. Fill mug with hot water and soak you brush/razor. Load brush with soap and face lather. Use water to wet brush as needed and to clean razor between strokes. Doesn't keep lather warm like a scuttle but it does warm the brush nicely for an initial warm face lather.
Ah gotcha. I've seen similar ones in the past but the area that held the soap was larger and round - this seems to require a rather small non-circular slice of soap. Maybe that shape was being sold back then Thanks!
Sounds nice. Did you put it on top or did you poke holes in the soap so it would get integrated throughout the soap and not just the top?
I used a stout butterknife and mixed it in, as I folded it in, it got a little softer. then I put it back in the tub and flattened it down.
I need to get my digital camera out and post a picture of this score. ( when I find it, it got put somewhere, only the mice know where) Along with another item I received from @Troy M
just recieved my scent-sational PIF from @SDK...cant wait to take them for a spin as im already smelling them like crazy....a HUGE thank you to @SDK for a great PIF and great generosity
What would you want that for. A coffee cup with holes in the bottom of it, and then a dividing wall in the middle. Just throw that piece of Junk Away ! if you don't want it I will take and fix it, I can always use another coffee cup. even if it is broke. :ahem:
I have really NO idea what to do with it - it was a mug that 'came with a razor'. I'll see if it actually has some use...might try to use it tomorrow..not sure what soap I can put in that tiny little hole though. Oh, and it might not be visible in the photo but the half with the holes only goes down about 1/3 into the mug as it's on an internal shelf in the mug. This might show that a bit more clearly:
The story has a happy ending! I won a Ever-Ready Lucite 300L handle on the bay a month ago. It took the polar route to get here from Miami, and arrived last Thursday. Cleaned it up and ordered a Silvertip 18/65 from TGN. That only took 3 days to get here. So here are a couple of shots and a test fit. Looks like it will set in at 51 so I will epoxy it in and give it a test run soon.
Here is photo of my PIF from @Troy M I don't think I will run out of razor blades any time soon. With the stash of razor blades I already have and these plus some more I found under the sink,(that I thought were gone) I might think of having a "Father's Day" PIF
I just received 120 blades from @NCoxSTL. I won one of the PIFs in the "Come on Spring PIF!" Pictured are my Fatboy and Slim getting acquainted. They will be up in April for my Adjustable Month. They will each get ten days. The other ten days will go to my Schick M2 Adjustable. Thanks again to @NCoxSTL for a great PIF.
