Haven't had much time recently to post new items in my den but this morning afforded me a few quiet minutes so here's something I picked up just this week. It's not exactly lead crystal but it is glass so I hope I don't get it wet and drop it on the hard floor. I took pictures next to a couple of my Old Spice mugs (the one on the left is also a recent acquisition) just to give an idea of the size. It's big enough to let you drop in the larger size pucks. The soap pictured is an 80g GFT hard shaving soap refill and just under 3" in diameter.

Nice! I've started watching for mugs but knowing what I paid for mine at a local store, I've set my spending limit for them, maybe too low. But am definitely wanting more of them now.

Here's my first batch of traditional shaving supplies. A bit expensive to get started but I'm really satisfied with everything so far. The PdP No. 63 products are awesome and the Gillette Silver Blue blades are working out great for my first week of shaving. The RazoRock has also been perfect in terms of aggressiveness for this beginner.

I have to make another plug for The Natty Dresser. I really respect a shop who bucks the norm and carries products that don't appeal to the masses.

Found these in an antiques mall today for a nice price. The Khaki has a 1918 serial number and the Damascene has a full blade bank of original blades.

I'm joining the major leagues. I now have a puck of Van Der Hagen Deluxe. I've arrived! Smells great. I'll use it tomorrow.

James Lowe Erskine Company was an American brush maker (New York State) that was a major maker that went out of the brush business by most accounts in the 1950s. The mass market was turning to canned shaving cream (invented in 1949) which would have made this company an early casualty of this switch in product usage.

This brush has a wonderful faux ivory handle that is a really good imitation. I am ready to use this one in my rotation and I am interest to see how it lathers. The hairs are in great shape since it came in the original box and has seemed to have been stashed away for at least 60 years.

Gary, wow! That brush could stand up with many modern ones today. Outstanding!

And..... Is there a fix for this? There is a small crack on one end of the tube. My NEW LC handle is also like this.

Awesome darkbulb! Some of those are works of art.
I guess I just assumed that they needed to be press fit or crimped together... Epoxy here I come!

I'll work on making my own from scratch some other time.

I think my problem is growing worse....the bad part is my wife kept saying "are you sure you don't want a new brush...I think you should get a new brush"

I've picked up all my mugs in antique and/or second hand stores. Online prices (plus shipping) are too high for me. I've collected maybe 18 Old Spice mugs in the past two years and I've paid between $5 and $8 for all but a few of them. I don't know how many million of them were made but as long as you're patient you can walk right past anything too expensive and get one for under $10. If it comes with a nice brush I'll pay more and if I ever find one of the cobalt blue ones (they seem to be quite elusive in my neck of the woods) I'll pay more but I've passed quite a few by that were priced at $20 plus.

That being said, I do have a nice Seaforth mug with an original puck of soap that I think I gave at least 20 bucks for and the glass one I just got I paid $18 but I've never seen one like it and it came with a very restorable brush.

Where did you buy the PdP No 63?

Had five razors trickle in today...

    1) Three WWII razors from the factory in the UK where a guy found a couple of buckets full of them 10 years ago. They look new.

    2) Received a nice gold Gillette Criterion Deluxe. Very nice indeed....the only problem is...it's NOT the razor I bought. This is the second time this year where I buy a razor and the seller sends the wrong one. Seriously, how hard can it be to send out the right darn razor? Sigh....

    3) Received the $21 gold Gillette Black Beauty. It's very nice indeed.

    So...4 out of 5 I guess.
