Splurged on myself this morning. I figured I may as well go for the big bowl and not have to make a decision on the scent (bowl only comes in one scent) SAVON À RASER LE BOL EN BOIS (translation = regular scent MdC in a wooden bowl)
Martin De Candre shave soap in original scent (lavender) that they sell in a artisan made wooden bowl. It is commonly called the brain bowl due to its appearance. I believe it can only be ordered directly from France.
Old Town shaving has them as well but with the current exchange rates it's less expensive from France. I've enjoyed the MdC so much this month, I've thought of doing the exact same thing.
And just think, your shave den will smell fantastic for the next year at least. From my experience the soap seems to last forever. I've not made a real dent in 30+ shaves. At this rate the regular container should last me over 250 shaves.
Picked up this for about $5 It's a Berkeley Custom Shaver. Some more info and photos here Basically it's a huge adjustable razor (1-8) with a large plastic handle that can keep your blades.....no, I'm not sure why. Will be interesting to see its condition and if it can clean up when I get it sometime next week or so. Hey, at least it comes in a wooden box
I've heard so many good things about his soaps - actually never a bad thing... The cost of shipping has always been a bit of a deterrent for me. Do post your thoughts when you get a chance to try it out.
Shaving-related… I will be using this in razor restoration and fabrication. A nice adjunct to the standard 4" bench sander already in use.
Waiting on: 1) Gillette Corgi van It's NIB like this: ....but that obviously won't last D It's a tiny little truck - you wouldn't be able to fit a razor into it 2) A L'Essor and a Thiers-Issard
