what the heck happened to gillette? they use to be such a great company and I just saw one of there commercials saying that a single cartridge will last a month....yeah good luck with that
Funny you mention that.. I've seen the commercial (fine print in the commercial says with 3-4 shaves per week) and while at Walmart today saw a 12 cartridge pack for $20 and it says " a years supply"..... Ummmm...... No.
12 cartridge's for $20? thats a steal, you sure it wasnt like $40?....the point is still the same though, good luck making those last a year, shoot even 6 months
The Russians are Here!! A Big Thank You to Neal @NCoxSTL for his great PIF - I was the consolation winner - but with these comrades lined up in rotation, I think I came in first.
You won't be disappointed in the Van Der Hagen! I been using a puck of it almost exclusively here lately to finish it off and I love it, a favorite out of my 10+ soaps and creams. Here's a pointer if you want to try it, I usually "balloon" the soap before I hop in the shower. If you don't know the term, you basically put a thin layer of water on top of the soap while you shower or get ready to shave. It helps loosen up the soap to make loading a brush faster and more efficient. Just dump off the water before you start the loading process. I like to take the balloon water and rub it on my face as a good layer of water to put soap onto.
Thanks for the tips. This is my first soap and have only heard good about it. I'm now debating lather in its plastic container it came in or dump my blades and razors out of my old spice mug and use it.
You should definitely use the old spice mug! That's exactly what it's made for my friend! I have mine in the green and blue VDH bowl that came with the kit I purchased a few years back. Makes lathering it a lot easier out of a good mug. A lot of guys go straight to the face after loading there brush but I like to continues the process into a different bowl to whip up my lather.
Lol well I've heard bloom as well but I guess I like to say balloon cause your expanding the top layer of the soap!
My latest arrival. It was part of a razor and blade lot and was the most anticipated of the lot. Thanks to Darkbulb for referring me to GDCarrington's thread about cleaning silver razors with baking soda, aluminum foil and hot water. It works
Beautiful set! Nicely done! Congratulations on a nice score! Is it a 1916 Arisocrat? Sets like that are hard to find
It's a 1921 102 model Aristocrat as far as I can tell. I'm still trying to figure out if the entire set is 1921. Any input would be appreciated.
