SOTD 3-27-15

Razor: ATT M2 w/Bamboo handle
Blade: Voskhod (3)
Soap: Palmolive Stick (1st time using)
Bowl: VDH used to presoak brush
Brush: VDH Boar

Preshave was just face wash with warm water and post shave was rinse with warm water then some cold water splashes and pat dry!

Shave was very good (I would say DFS) No nicks or irritation. Not sure if it was the ATT M2 plate or the Voskhod blade. I think it was the plate!

This is the first time I tried the Palmolive stick soap and I have to say It is not for me. It isn't terrible or anything like that. It lathered okay but felt kinda dry during each pass and I used enough water so not sure why it felt like that. I also dont care for the scent as it seems to be stronger than I care for. I am kinda picky and sensitive about scents and this one is not good for me. I will say my face feels pretty good after the shave like it seems to moisten well. Now I have six sticks of this stuff to move!

I have qute a few choices of blades and some soaps to sample them. Then I will decide what to keep and what to move on.

03/27 – A rare Friday shave and bowl lather today. I loaded Cella for 45 seconds after letting it bloom for about a minute. Too much product but fantastic lather. A BBS all around. TGIF everyone.

Thank you, Doug. It has some cosmetic issues - even after getting tuned-up at Razor Emporium - but it's a solid shaver.

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard). I will also Face Lather again tomorrow, I will wipe face off with Ice Cold Wet Wash Cloth. I will be shaving with Cold Water. Hopefully it will result in another DFS-BBS, with "No Nicks or Weepers".

 

It is there but hard to spot! It is the thing that has the M2 head sticking out of it!

Solid shave but I miss my 39c already after only three shaves with the New. Krampert's Frostbite was a pleasant cool this morning..

This is the last week of my GEM/ER SE Razor Month, and it's time for the GEM G-bar.

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Badger Brush. Two passes with my GEM G-bar SE razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... This was the second shave with the Treet blade. It was very smooth and comfortable. Who knew that a carbon blade would deliver such a fine shave. I likey.

Post - Warm water rinse, Maggard Razor Alum, wait 30 seconds then cool water rinse, & Lucky Tiger

Day 2 with the Sputnik went very well. - 3 pass for a 95% BBS - no irritation

More menthol will help cure whatever ails you!

Here's another very nice stick which unfortunately is no longer available because the manufacturer was forced to leave the business. The Permafrost Blue has a licorice scent with terrific lather, as well as a STRONG menthol sensation and very, very good post-shave care. I wish it was still around because I really enjoy using it, but c'est la vie as we say in French. The Gold Bond does its usual thing by prolonging the iciness and the Penguin makes you feel like you took a freezing cold shower. The Sharp blade weakened quite a bit so tomorrow I'll see if it's still usable, and if it gives me any issues I'll get rid of it.
