It's the beauty of our discount stores here in the states lol! It can be hit and miss a lot of the time but every now and then something like this will pop up in them. This Florida water was probably on a big box store shelf and it didn't sell so this discount store got it in a big bin of stuff they bought from that company at a huge discount price.

My wife just came back from an early morning flea market (I know...a pastors wife flea marketing on Palm Sunday morning). She brought me a Gem Junior, a Gillette Tech with a Bake lite handle, a box of Schaeffer SE blades, and what is, according to its serial number, a 1927 Old Type. (That makes it my mom's birth year razor!) No bent teeth, and the expected Crack in the handle, but the Crack is on the bottom of the handle, not where it connects to the head. Pics will follow this afternoon.

I've always liked the look of some A-17 watches but can't afford even the replicas. So I found this Timex and decided that, with some careful tweaking, it would work for me. I carefully "aged" the cheap looking shiny chrome hands with off-white enamel (Indiglo works so the lum hands are no loss), and used another technique to tone down the stark white numerals to a very light tan. Now the whole thing is much easier on the eye against the flat black face. Final step was to replace that ghastly woven band with a nice oxblood calfskin. For under $40 shipped, it was well worth the effort. I'm happy that it now has the general look of the A-17 style I wanted. Sorry for the substandard photo.

PS I also made it a NATO style strap by applying a thin cloth Band-Aid to the back, connecting the strap halves over the lugs in case a pin fails. I'm cheap like that, but it works.

It's relatively inexpensive, and the packaging is pretty plain,
so many guys look right over it.

    That would be a mistake.

REALLY good stuff sometimes comes in little green boxes. :)

My first soap and I'm really liking it.. Mine came in a slightly different green box from Walmart. I'm wondering if the soaps the same with different packaging for different retailers.

I hope more guys give VDH a try. You are right it's really good soap and makes a great shave for a budget shaver. Not only that it super available here in the States almost at every walmart, target, or pharmacy.

Here's the pic I promised. The Old Type looks better in the photo than in real life. I'll post a better pic once I've cleaned it up.

Here's a closer picture, after cleaning.
    Old Type 2 (800x600).jpg
The serial number on the base plate is 819671B, which places it in 1927. Stamped into the lower part of the handle is "Pat. Jan. 13, 1920 U.S.A." I guess I read the chart incorrectly; I called this an Old Type, but a few guys straightened me out and told me it's a Tuckaway. Still cool. My wife found it for me at a flea market, and it was made the year my mother was born. I plan on test driving it tomorrow morning.

It's also the heaviest razor I've ever picked up.

It's a New Improved De Luxe Tuckaway IIRC. Very nice!
