Received a mint Schick Platinum DE razor in black (it's the deepest, black plastic I've ever seen - the razor is truly beautiful in person). Here it is next to a Gillette Slim to show scale. This is in addition to the grey one that I have NIB...good thing about this one is that I'll be able to actually use it - and I sure will!
A couple of items arrived today. I got the vintage Soviet era safety razor from Bulgaria.....suggested to me by @txskimo. Svetoslav, the seller, threw in two Astor blades. And, from @Keithmax , five blades including two of the infamous Flying Eagle...reputedly the worst blade on the planet. We'll find out next month just how bad.
Nah, she knows I like VDH Deluxe, plus it soften the blow when she showed me the purse she bought. For herself
It feels pretty solid. The head is definitely solid, though I don't know what kind of metal. I suspect pot metal. The handle is a bit on the cheap side but it is Soviet engineering. I'll give it a try later this week when I take another break from the CJB and see how it performs. I'm looking at a few other Soviet razors including a knock off of the Schick plastic one as well as thinking of getting an Ideal, just to have it. To get one that seems fairly solid is nice since I've been reading about the Soviet space program and its ummmmm....questionable practices and successes? Failures?
I got these pretty cheap. The products cost a combined total of $11 and about $7 for delivery. It's from a site I had never tried before TVB shaving the delivery was fast and the prices very cheap. I heard about it here. One of our members mentioned the site, can't remember who. If you live in Europe you might want to check out this site. Packaging wasn't brilliant but everything got here in one peice so can't complain. And Proraso White is great. I found out by accident that it is really nice with a cold water shave.
