How do you like the TSD Barber Shoppe soap? I like the old barber shop scents like Clubman, Old Spice, etc and that sounds interesting.

    Tabacstag Überlather
I combined my favorite soap and my favorite cream to make ûberlather, Tabac style. The shave was optimal - the Lather Monster easily whipped up the combined products into yogurt thickness with excellent slickness. My whiskers had no chance as der Vorschlaghammer efficiently and humanely destroyed them. I finished with Cologne Russe and it works pretty well together, though I think I prefer bay rum with Tabac in the end.

    Prep: Warm water rinse
überlather: Tabac Rasierseife und Tabac Rasierschaum
    Rasierpinsel: HIS Lather Monster
    Rasierer: der Vorschlaghammer
    Rasierklinge: Voskhod (3)
    Rasierwasser: B&M Cologne Russe

Went for a third pass ATG on my neck and paid for it with a weeper and irritation at the collar line. I really need to stop when the going is good.

It performs pretty good but isn't as powdery scent wise as I expected. Good clean scent but it doesn't quite give me the Barber shop memories some other products have.

Clear brushes somehow make aesthetic sense with unscented soaps.

    Williams mug soap
    TGN black badger
    Gillette ball end old OC
    Dorco(2)
    Nivea sensitive post

I like the classic look of the ball end.and have only used it twice now. But... I got quite a bit of irritation today. Is that because its an aggressive razor and I need to learn how to use it better or possibly my blade is crap? I did two passes and minimal touch up for a decent passable shave. Couldn't take any more.

Definitely staying away from any post shave with alcohol... And I still have a bit of burning.

Edit: I corrected the name/type of the razor used.

Time for a new set up, got five nice shaves out of the Astra SP and the Frankenpuck soap. Been awhile since I used the the Strop Shoppe soap.

SoTD For Thursday, April 9, or, time to Treet myself.

Pre- my faithful Bergamot, Balsam, and Clove PSO
    Soap- La Pere Lucien
    Brush- Semogue owner's club
    Razor- oxblood handle Treet
    Blade- vintage ('94) Gem Stainless.
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- vintage Skin Bracer
    Balm- Kiehl's
    Cologne- eau sauvage

Today I had a bit of extra time, so I decided to treat myself to a relaxed, deliberate shave. I chose to use a bakelite Gem Jr style Treet. I picked my oxblood colored version, because I love that particular color... In fact, I am wearing a matching oxblood colored Fred Perry and socks today. But regardless of my fashion decisions, that was the razor for the day. For those of you who do not have a 1912 style Treet, they are great. For the most part, a copy of the Gem, but with hybrid elements of the Micromatic Clog Pruf. Seriously. The bar is the notched Micromatic type, and there are the distinctive Clog Pruf long slots in the razor bed. It makes for a great variation of an already great razor. Paired up with a '94 Gen super stainless, I got a great 2 pass shave. Second day in a row with absolutely zero neck irritation. It is so nice when my Osage rinse doesn't hurt!
The SOC continues working it's way to my favorite brush position, while the La Pere Lucien is already firmly in place as my favored soap. I decided to keep this shave old school Europe, and topped it off with Dior's Eau Sauvage. Originally launched in the '50s, and still a top seller in France, it is a classic. Happy day. Hope yours went well also.
