Fourth day with the Tradere OC and it continues to amaze and delight.

It was also the very first time I used the VDH Deluxe soap today.
I must admit my feelings towards the soap can be summed up like:
"If I had to I could easily shave with it - but there was nothing about the soap (scent or performance) that would make me deliberately pick it ahead of a number of other soaps I have".

    Razor: Tradere OC, 2nd gen
    Blade: Personna
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
    Soap: VDH Deluxe
A/S: Myrsol Blue followed by some Anherb

    Thursday:
hot shower w/Plain Jane & Co Masculine Musk bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    Gillette Slim (9) 2+ passes
    Rapira Swedish Supersteel (5)
GFT Spanish Leather cream in a warm bowl
    Long Handled boar
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    GFT Spanish Leather AS (sample)

A little too much gung in my gung-ho this morning and I ended up with enough lather for two men and a boy. Another great shave with a Rapira S/S. Usually I retire a blade after 4 or 5 shaves but this one doesn't feel like it's done yet.

That's my opinion of VDH too. It's good soap, and adequate...but fails to provide any standout qualities. But a good product nonetheless.

Given your brush collection, you want a few amber scented soaps! :)

Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap
    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Gillette Fatboy F2
    Sputnik Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Gillette Fatboy razor and a Sputnik Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This is the last shave with the fatboy for my Adjustable Month. Next, the Schick M is up for ten days.

That OC looks like a Gillette "Old" to me from the picture. I have an "Old" OC and it gives me a rough shave. I've worked on it by "riding the cap", and that seems to help. But I dont pick it up very often.

I just recently got a puck of the VDH Deluxe but haven't used it yet. I've only used the VDH Luxury, and like it. Admittedly, I don't have a big selection to chose from that I've tried though (3). Hopefully this weekend I'll use the Deluxe and can do a comparison.

Razor: ATT M2 with Bulldog handle
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
    Soap: Arko stick
    Bowl: Steel
    Brush: VDH Boar

Preshave was just face wash with warm water and post shave was rinse with warm water then some cold water splashes and pat dry!

Shave was great, an easy DFS with no nicks or irritation.

Razor: Decided to tryout the M2 plate again and it worked just fine! No complaints!

Soap: This is my goto soap, I put it aside to test others and not sure why! This Arko just works amazingly well with not to much effort and gives great lather and protection during passes. All you have to do is rub stick on your damp/moistened face then grab the brush and face lather it. Repeat for each pass, so simple but so good!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out!

    Thx.

stash, I'm either reading your post wrong or your mixed up on nicknames.
there is a long comb in the pic, can't tell, but looks like a long comb old. they tend to be aggressive. gotta use an easy hand with them.
but dial it in, and you'll have a very nice shave.
    tech are much easier going.

Its probably me that got it wrong. Going on photos in SOTD and trying to put names with razors... This is the one I used.

that's a old type ball end. yeah, it's not known for mildness.
but it will deliver a nice shave.

    Stirling Sheep facial soap
    Merkur 37C slant bar razor
    Feather blade (day 1)
    Omega 10098 professional boar brush
    Arko shave stick & glycerin
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave balm

I enjoyed tons of slick and protective lather this morning simply by paying more attention and taking more time. The glycerin improves the mix as well. I keep adding water slowly (even after I think it has enough) and working it in until I see the very first signs of thinning. Then, I'm ready to shave...and the shave is great.

    Grace and Peace!

    YSL Pour Homme EdT

After this morning's shave which felt like my face was on fire (in a good way!) I decided to repeat this experience for a second consecutive time. This Cryogen soap lathers like a wild beast and in no time your brush has enough soap on it for five passes. I'm still in shock at how damned frigid this stuff is - ok, it's not ten times colder than the Glacials but there's definitely a detectable difference. Thank goodness this soap offers very good skincare. My Gold Bond is such wonderful moisturizer and let's see how cold the Penguin will make me feel afterwards. The Sharp blade is still doing a good job. ;) :D

A great weekend to all in advance! :)
