My long weekend haul! In the back is an original page from the Saturday Evening Post June 13, 1925 featuring the Bostonian razor! From left to right: NEW bar handle ( thin handle ) with the reissue number on it making it in the 30's i believe and a brass blade case. Beige case - 1955 A4 Flair Tip. White case - 1969 O3 Black Handle Flair Tip. Old Spice Ship Friendship mug from late 40's or early 50's. Known to have fading issues but I love it! Red Case - 1949 No code Super Speed. Has Pat Nos on Package. New Bar Handle with reissue number so 30's again i think. Ever Ready 1cs lucite badger brush. Very hard to find info on it. Think it's 50's? In the middle left is a 1963 I1 Slim Adjustable and next to it is a weird one with an octagon shaped handle that the only thing I could find was a Hospital or Doehler Jarvis? All obtained at antique or second hand/charity shops, most for under $10 except for the Gillette poster which was $17. BTW, I know the 2 cases for the NEW's aren't right but that is how they had them displayed and sold them that way. They are pretty beat up anyway but most of the razors are in very good condition with very llittle to no brassing on the so they should clean up quite well. I have a few items that I have questions on and will be photographing and posting better pictures to see if you guys can help me out! With all I have read on here the knowledge level is thru the roof!!! Anything you can help with or point out would be more than welcomed! Half the fun is in the hunt! The wife actually found the poster behind a bunch of junk and noticed a coupe of the razors in locked cabinets behind jewelry. We had a blast out pickin' all weekend! I should say that getting the wife to go is easy as it's her business! She owns a consignment/resale/repurposing store so she is always on the hunt for deals for the store and she has a heck of an eye for hidden treasures and deals. P.S. Hope I posted this in the right place!
Awesome haul! I've found most of my stuff for under $10 also and that's what I've gauged my "limit" on.... Nice brush I had to re-knot mine.
Nice! Love the lucite stuff! Been following your restoration thread as I plan on doing mine. Enjoyed watching the progress and was an excellent pic sequence you did!
Thanks, I appreciate that. I don't know which I love cleaning up more... Razors or brushes. And I'm definitely on the lookout for the Lucite handles!
I hear the handle feels better than it looks on the MR5. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the s-brush. You are all of the latest and greatest my friend. Do you ever let anything go? Besides your donations across the pond...lol.
Pretty much blew my entire month of April mad money but it was fun and I have been having a blast cleaning and shining everything up! My wife just looks at me, smiles and shakes her head like I'm crazy ( she's probably right )!
Posted this in the wrong month.... I just found in my mail something special...a tin of limited-edition, certified hand-made DIRIGO BLUE® Mustache Wax — a gift from Steve, our own @swarden43 ! Steve uses the Dirigo wax already on his classic handlebar 'stashe... I look forward to giving the DBW a try in the coming days in order to help keep this white lip growth from overtaking my face!
Very much impressed with the handle, well worth the price. I did do a test lather with the brush today, it's not going to replace the Plisson as "the brush of the gods" but...for $8.75 it has its place in my den and yours? No problem whipping up Caties Bubbles into a fluffy pile of goodness. Soft tips, nice splay and wait for it.. Some backbone! It's an Omega, they make for the most part great brushes. They did here. I'm sending you a pm. Hope this helps @theFAT98
My first Injector arrived today. Very good condition and it came with a cool little travel brush. I need to order some blades as it only came with one (loaded in the razor). The injector was empty but can't complain for $6
Two british made brushes (Grosvenor's) destined for restoration with Silvertip knots. The little german made brush in the middle is what came with the Shick Injector kit.
