I just finished reading "Locked In" by John Scalzi. A good book with a very interesting plot. Here is a plot summary taken from Wikipedia:

"A highly contagious virus is exposed to the world. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu-like symptoms. For 1%, the virus causes the victims to be fully awake, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. This is known as "Lock In", and resembles the real condition known as locked-in syndrome. The illness comes to be known as "Haden's Syndrome" with its victims called "Hadens". Humanoid robotic personal transport units controlled by a Haden's brain (nicknamed "Threeps" after C-3PO from Star Wars) are developed as the primary way for a Haden to interact with the outside world.

25 years after the initial virus exposure, FBI agents Chris Shane (who is a Haden) and Leslie Vann are assigned to a Haden-related murder, with a suspect who is an "Integrator" – someone who can let a Haden use their bodies. If the Integrator was carrying a Haden, then finding the suspect for the murder is complicated. Further Integrator-Haden related murders occur, making the case larger than expected."

I've read every Scalzi book. He's a favorite of mine. I've even reread the Old Mans War Series.

 

Listening to the audiobook version of "The Martian" - only a couple of chapters in but I am really liking it.

Writing my bachelor thesis .. So I need some backbone theory

 

Reading all the pages of my credit card statement.

 

Total pages: 47. Total pages not related to shaving supplies: 0.75.

I'm on a debt elimination kick this year. Paid off 4 credit lines already.

 

Finished "The Martian" - which was great.
Now doing "Flowers for Algernon" on audiobook.

I dint feel bad because I watched Algernon and I lernd how to finish the amaze even if it takes me along time.
I dint know mice were so smart.

 

A painfully beautiful story.

 

I'm only halfway through it but I really like it.

 

It reminds me a lot of Vonnegut's work.

 

I can see that. Also some Heinlein thrown in there for good measure.

 

Totally different kind of book...but you might appreciate "Fates worse than Death" by Vonnegut. It's pee in your pants funny and super insightful at the same time.

 

"love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I'm 68 pages in. I think it's going to be a good book.

 

"Hinge of Fate" by Winston Churchill. Fourth in a series about WWII. I'm somewhat of a Churchillianphile. And of course my Bible, several different versions. Love history.
