Feeling excited, relieved, and a little scared all at the same time, today. I'm going to wait until I've passed the drug test and physical to turn in my 2 weeks, so my boss doesn't know yet. It makes me anxious.
Just went through this last year. Job I'd had for the past 19 years, felt good to start the next chapter though.
Yeah. It's way past time I stepped outside the education world. The nature of public education goes entirely against every fiber of my personal philosophy, and every day on the job feels like I'm selling my soul.
Well I got sent home from a plant I was sent out to today because I lacked a certain identification card. The funny thing is I've had said card for probably at least 4 years now and not once have I had to use it so I stopped carrying it with me in the card. I'm sure I'm going to get crap about it from the higher ups but they certainly lack in the communication department so oh well. On the bright side that means I got my birthday off and got time to ship out a PIF this morning. Now to go browse thrift shops and see what I can find.
Now that I've got the job situation sorted out, I've got to do something about the transportation. I'm driving an '89 Dodge conversion van. I really need to find something that gets better mileage than that beast, since I'm going to be driving all over 2 large counties and have a 30 mile commute. I'm currently making payments on one car, so I'm not sure financing another >2k vehicle is really an option I want to explore. I'm trying to decide which would be the better option, track down a cheap cash car and drive it into the ground or replace the engine and transmission in my 2000 cavalier. Either way, the cost will probably come out about the same--not counting labor.
