I didn't know anything about a group buy. I bought my brush handle from an eBay seller. It was shipped directly from Jerusalem!

Ditto. Plenty still available...but check the seller's feedback as there are a couple of them selling the handles.

Arko April Focus - CJB Kamisori
    April 22, 2015 - Week 4 Day 4
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - CJB
    Blade - [IMG](4)
Post - Cold towel, Alum, Styptic, Balm

Well looking at my post shave you see problems ahead. Actually a pretty good day with the CJB. One mistake when I added pressure on the second pass on my right side neck. Nothing major just a nick and a reminder to stop pressing. Finished two passes in very good shape, better results than I have had up to now. Decided to do a third pass using something a bit safer and milder just to finish it off. So I grabbed this killing machine.....
    Killer SS.jpg
Yes, the deceptively mild and forgiving 1959 Gillette Superspeed, a trusted gentle friend paired with a Bic Chrome Platinum that has treated me like a king. Well, apparently after using it the last time I dried it as normal, spinning the handle in the towel and apparently loosened the doors just a bit. Not noticing that it was lying in wait to ambush me I did a quick pass down my right cheek and went for an XTG pass on my right neck starting just below my ear and on the jawline. Took one pull, the loose blade caught and BAM!!! A nice cut worthy of a straight razor. Much cussing ensued along with a stare at myself in the mirror just to check that, yes, I was stupid enough to forget to check the razor.
The good news.....I finished near BBS after tightening the monstrous beast back up and all bleeding has stopped. I live to shave another day!

What is MdC and where do you get it? Never in my wildest dreams did I ever consider anything lavender scented ( too girly :ashamed001: ) and then I made some of @Sara-s homemade preshave oil, lavender scented and it is fantastic! :happy088:
And you are correct, it makes the whole bathroom smell awesome.

    Hi there NewellVW!
Martin de Candre. Available here: http://savonnerie-martin-de-candre.com/en/savon-a-raser/140-savon-a-raser-le-bol-en-bois.html
The name MdC is very well known amongst wet shavers. Some believe it to be too expensive for what you get, some believe that it is one of the best soaps on the market. I have the Brain Bowl (lavender) and I also have a jar of their Fougère soap. http://savonnerie-martin-de-candre.com/en/savon-a-raser/263-savon-a-raser-fougere-.html
This is their most famous scent. If you ever have an opportunity to try it, I would go for it. Yes, it's pricey, but you are going to get many, many terrific shaves out of one jar.

    4/22/2015 Nationwide Box Tour!

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Muhle R41 (2013), Dubl Duck Goldedge straight razor
    Blade: Gillette Thin Blade (2)
    Brush: Turkish #6
Soap: Strop Shoppe - Russian Tea
After: Home made ASB, CO Bigelow Face Gel
    Cologne: Florida Water

Nationwide Box Tour day 2. The #6 brush whipped up the Russian Tea into a thick and slick lather. The Russian Tea has a wonderfully spicy black tea scent. It smelled so good that I wanted to taste it. The Duck did a great job. The Thin Blade is on it's last leg, but did a decent job. The Bigelow Face Gel left my face feeling good. The Florida Water cologne started off strong but has not lasted. I can barely smell it 4 hours later. All in all it was a Darn Fine Shave.

    Have a blessed day!

    image.jpg Razor: Gillette 195 Fat Boy (f1) 1960 (5) (3)
    Brush: Whipped Dog 30/45 Silvertip
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: TOBS Coconut cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, Old Spice original Shulton 1973 glass cologne Stopper #4
Whipped up a thumb nail size dollop of the TOBS in my favorite mug with my favorite brush. My favorite daily driver the FB is hard to put away for another razor, because it shaves me so well. It's weight does all the work. WTG XTG on my face and neck on 5. ATG on my neck on 3. Nice and slick and with my FB on 3 for my neck I can buff a little on the hard to get to spots for a very nice smooth shave. Great cucumber smell with the WH, and then some soothing Nivea. After cleanup some vintage OS from 1973. Listening to a lot of vintage music this week, in my way back machine. This is a great Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks live from 1976, one of my favorite, off the hook! Have a good one y'all.

Had a hands-down fantastic shave this morning with my gold Schick "Krona".
This was my first time using a "Krona" and I am VERY impressed by it - quite frankly a "better" razor than many of my Gillettes.
This razor might be the best kept 'secret' as far as quality razors goes and how their prices are reflected on online auction sites.

Nice weight, wonderful handle and a rather mild but very effective head.

    Razor: Schick "Krona"
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
    Soap: Cella
    A/S: Myrsol Plastic Shave
    Body splash: The Veg

This is really unfortunate as Lavender, along with some other great scents that you will find in many artisanal soaps are fantastic! You should really consider getting some of the lovely 'girly' scents that are offered by the artisan soap makers such as Mystic Water. You'll really enjoy them, I believe. :)

Soap: TSD Barber Shoppe shave stick
    Brush: Omega 13522
    Razor: Cadet OC
    Blade: Ladas
Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm

First time using the Ladas blades. Great 2 pass WTG & XTG shave. Just about out of the TSD shave stick. Might continue with the sample of Stirling Barber Shop I got from @WhiskerWhacker.

Echoing Primo's comments above, Martin De Candre (MdC) is a quality French-made soap that is available in several sizes. It is NOT inexpensive ($60/200g jar), but a little of it goes a long way. One 200g jar is supposed to last a year with daily use. I've used mine (both the regular scent and the fougére scent) frequently over the past year, and both jars still appear 85-90% full. My favorite shave soap. Great, easy-to-make slick lather; terrific scent; some have found it drying to the skin post-shave, but I can't say I've had the same experience. YMMV, I suppose.

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog Original face wash, sandalwood bar soap

Soap/cream- Taylor of old bond street Grapefruit

    Brush- Plisson synthetic

    Razor- Weber all stainless steel

    Blade- Voskhood

Post- Cold water rinse, Ice cube just for fun, my own unscented aftershave lotion and L’oreal hydra energetic aftershave balm

The weber performed flawlessly. Look at the picture, its in great condition. I love the weight of the razor. The seller says its 100grams, I dont have a scale to verify. But it really feels like I’m holding a razor, I had to pay close attention when doing the strokes upward on my neck so I wouldn’t drop it hehe

2 passes and stopped, Its a smooth razor, but I didn’t wanna overdo anything.

I haven’t had the best luck with the russian blades. I had to flip the blade because it was skipping, anyone have this problem? the blades only work on one side.

its the second time I take an ice cube and run it on the shaves area, I might have overdone it a little this time haha =) it feels nice though =)
