Arko April Focus - CJB Kamisori April 30, 2015 - Week 5 Day 5 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - St. Charles Shave Sandalwood Razor - '46 Gillette Aristocrat Blade - (2) Post - Alum, Nivea Replenishing Post Shave Balm Final day of April and I finished on the setup I used yesterday with the exception that I changed to my Omega Pro 48 to try and improve the St. Charles Shave lather. The first pass seemed like the lather was better. I used more water than yesterday and loaded more soap before face lathering. Second and third passes were ok but the amount of lather was significantly less by the time I finished. Very thin on the third lather. I will have to revisit this soap and try bowl lathering at some point. I really want it to work. Just have to dial it in. On to MAYhem. Hope everyone is ready for International Worker's Day tomorrow! Boil the potatoes and onions and stock up on caviar and vodka!
04/30/2015 Razor – Mongoose B2 with Jürgen Hempel Ti Blade –Feather Super Pro (5) Brush –Shavemac Silvertip D01 Lather – B&M Seville Post - Witch Hazel and Myrsol Limon Sample Fantastic near BBS 2 pass shave this morning. Did manage to end up with one weeper but it was my fault. I really like the B&M Seville Soap. The scent has a very nice citrus note that is not over powering but does linger after the shave. Furthermore this soap is seriously slick. For any touch ups just a splash of water has enough residual slickness to prevent razor burn. Finished up with witch hazel and a splash of Myrsol Limon from my sampler pack. Between the soap and the aftershave, the post shave feel is great.
Aggressive April - Day 21 (4/30/15) Prep: Hot shower Soap: Arko Brush: Omega 13522 Razor: Cadet OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm Scent: Tommy Bahama Very Cool Quick 1 pass shave this morning. XTG, decent shave. Exhausted today, way too much going on this week.
I am just in awe that so many people's face can handle daily shaving. I shave every two days, and even with that, sometimes it is too much. My calendar would be more spotty.
I am blessed with tough skin I guess. I've shaved daily since I went through boot camp in 83 but never had a much fun doing it until now. And to think I got into this thinking I would save money. Yea right!
Late post for Wednesday Arko April!! Getting better each day...still pondering May! Back to wrap up later!! Have a great Thursday!!
April 30 Stirling Sheep facial soap Merkur 37C slant bar razor Feather blade (day 1) Omega 98 Professional boar brush Arko & glycerin Two passes plus touch-ups Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt-Innsbruck I had another great, although rushed, work day shave with this set up. I am definitely an Arko fan now that I've used it consistently for the past month. Tomorrow will be my last shave with Arko for awhile. I will summarize what I've learned this month as well. I plan to begin my Mayhem shaves on Saturday. I have definitely enjoyed following everyone's progress this month. You all encourage me and help me learn more about this great hobby that we share.
Clint, the Alt-Innsbruck is both a cologne and an aftershave. It is made in Austria, and I understand that the formula hasn't changed since the 1950s. It has a very subtle scent of menthol and tobacco flower. (It doesn't smell like tobacco to me, which is a good thing.) A little goes a long way (I use a very small amount), and it has more staying power than a typical aftershave. It is a classy scent and is my favorite overall aftershave. I work in an office environment, and I often use it before going to work. I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps.
That helps a lot. I just picked up a bottle of Mrysol F Extra. It was my favorite out of the Floid and Mrysol samples.
Very good! I noticed you used Floid Amber. I use Floid Vigoroso, and it provides a nice barbershop/menthol scent that I really like. How would you describe the Amber?
Amber was a weaker version of Vigoroso with less alcohol and menthol. The F Extra is also very similar to Vigoroso but a little less alcohol but with a little more menthol. I could only tell the difference between the 3 when I used them over several days.
I have always wanted to try Alt-Innsbruck, but I believe I am sensitive to tobacco EO. Alt-Innsbruck is probably not for me.
