Worth repeating for newer guys...Omega 48 is probably the pound-for-pound lather champ! Glad you're back! Hope you get to full strength soon! i am so glad you're trying these blades so I don't need to!
30 Day Rule with a Schick! Planned for later this afternoon SOTD 12 May Yesterday I had to work a little too hard...that means new blade today! The skin stretching SR style really makes the Schick glide across my face and makes the shave so much easier. Switching in a little AV Musk for variety tonight! Have a great Tuesday night!
I love my Omega 48 so glad to agree with that! I'm going to try my Vie Long in a couple of days and see how it compares. It's almost defunked enough to get within a couple inches of my face! Thank heavens for Arko. As for trying the blades so you don't need to, hey it's the least I can do to help others avoid disappointment and misery. I'm just a humble servant to the shaving community.
Lather your Vie Long and let the Arko dry on it over a night...and yes Arko is from heaven, or Turkey.
It had a night in C.O. Bigelow and last night in Arko. It gets another night in Arko tonight. The Bigelow helped but the Arko made some real headway. Turkey may make a heavenly soap but the Zaza blade...well we will find out for sure starting Sunday when it is up in the mercy setup.
Adam, maybe this video will help. I'm sure it's a matter of getting it dialed in, as Clint says. I had a similar challenge when I first started using MdC. I'm sure you'll find what works for you.
Neal, you're absolutely normal, as far as you know. BTW, you inspired me to have a "mercy" shave this month. I used a Feather blade for three days instead of two.
Brush Focus: Day 12/30 Brush: Semogue 1305 Boar Gillette Super Speed, A3 Flare Tip (1955) Gillette Platinum Blade (5) Bowl: KO Shave Soap: Jack's Soap AS: Captain's Choice, Bay Rum Old Spice Coffee Mug. This brush is simply a pleasure to use. It loads up great and has a excellent feel on my face. I soaked the brush for 2 or 3 minutes in warm water before starting. Lathered up very well,I had to add a little water and soap during my shave, but that's just fine with me. I really enjoyed this brush and if you don't have one I would suggest you get one. This brush is a keeper and stays in my rotation for sure. Captain's Choice Bay Rum is an outstanding A/S. Gillette Platinum blade is doing a fine job. Three passes and a clean up. All in all a great shave today.
Hi Scott, and I'm glad you are feeling better! I had the same experience with blade life in the Mongoose. I changed mine weekly, but I always thought it could last for a few more shaves. Clint got 14 had nice shaves out of a Super Pro, which I think is amazing.
I tried that with my Omega Pro 98. The next morning, the bristles were gone, and the handle was no larger than a Wee Scot.
I was feeling a little stubbly on my scalp so decided to have a late afternoon head shave. Keeping with the brush focus, I grabbed the TGN finest in the MadeRite handle and built up a nice lather with the TSD Wheat cream. My Weber made short work of 2 days of scalp stubble and the Ogallala Bay Rum finished it off. I may have found the perfect place for this fan knot. It covers the scalp in good fashion - I just have to learn how to make a good slick lather with this cream and a badger brush.
Day 3 of 3 using the Shark blade, thank goodness. It felt rough and I was so cautious I did not get a close shave. Tomorrow I will start with the 7am blade . 7am is for wimps. The dogs get me up at 4:30am.
Another one for the May Mayhem. Had to try one of the SE razors that came in the mail. Used the Featherweight, with a Personna coated SS blade from Connaught Shaving. Used the same Derby menthol cream and WD silvertip badger. I had a two pass BBS shave with no irritation, and reinforced why I like SE blades and razors as much as the DE shaving experience!
